Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Carroll Boys Edge Atlantic on the Road Friday

Boys Soccer Results Friday, March 29th

Carroll At Atlantic

Carroll 2

Atlantic 1

Carroll was the more aggressive and physical team on Friday, using that to control the ball on their offensive end most of the game. They outshot the Trojans 25-5, getting one goal in each half to slip out of town with a 2-1 win. The Tigers held possession for nearly  35:00 of the 1st half but fell down 1-0 when Kyler Edie got behind the Tiger defense and angled a shot in from the left side with 29:01 left in the 1st half. Carroll’s defense was outstanding with Chase Ragaller, Quinten Polking, Tate Schleisman and Ethan Osterland smothering everything that came to their end, allowing Tanner Heithoff to not face many shots on goal. That physical defensive effort kept the ball in the Tigers offensive end. Landon Peterson, Grant Uhlenkamp and Elias Villanueva were all able to get shots in the 1st half. Atlantic bottled up the net with six players trying to clog the area. Landon Petersen was able to break through with 12:10 left in the half, tying the game at 1. It remained tied into halftime.

Carroll adjusted at the half to the Trojans defensive game plan, allowing them to get more shots in the 2nd half. Kieran Polking gave them the lead with a goal off a middle attack. His goal with 20:09 left gave Carroll their first lead and it would hold up. Atlantic tried going deep often, trying to allow Kyler Edie to run it down but Chase Ragaller often beat him to the ball, gaining possession for Carroll or kicking it out of bounds, allowing Carroll to set up their defense.

Landon Petersen paced Carroll with 8 shots on goal, scoring once and assisting on another goal. Kieran Polking 1 goal on 4 shots on goal. Elias Villanueva had 5 shots on goal, Grant Uhlenkamp had 4 shots on goal. Tanner Heithoff finished the game with 4 saves.

The Tigers are 1-0 and will host Bondurant Farrar on Monday.
