The Kuemper Knights shot the three ball effectively as they knocked down 13 from behind the arc in a win on the road against South Hamilton. The game started back and forth as both offensives started hot. At the end of the first quarter, the game would be tied 17-17. Kuemper’s offense continued the hot start as they put up 20 points in the second quarter. At the half, the Knights would take a four-point lead, 37-33. The third quarter was the lowest-scoring quarter for both teams. Kuemper and South Hamilton both scored 15 points in the quarter. The Knights held on to a 52-48 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Knights’ offense scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, and they would go on to win 73-65.

Only two Kuemper players scored in double figures. Jack Badding scored a team-high 20 points off the bench for the Knights. Brock Badding was the team’s second-leading scorer with 18 points. Brock and Jack combined to knock down 11 of the Kuemper’s 13 three-pointers. Kuemper shot 45 percent from the field. The Knights dished out 19 assists on 25 made baskets as a team. Hans Kraus pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. The Knights recorded 28 rebounds as a team.

With the win, Kuemper wraps up their regular season at 17-3. The Knights are back in action on Thursday, February 15th, against the winner of South Hardin and West Marshall.

The South Central Calhoun Titans struggled on offense Thursday night on the road at Storm Lake. The Titans shot 38 percent from the field in the loss. Storm Lake took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back, as they would lead 22-7 going to the second. SCC saw some improvement on the offensive end in the second quarter but trailed 42-16 at the half. The Titan’s best quarter was the third quarter. SCC cut into the Storm Lake lead as they outscored the Tornadoes 15-8. Storm Lake scored 17 points in the fourth quarter and went on to win 67-43.

Cole Higgins was the Titans leading scorer with 14 points. Gavin Batta was SCC’s second-leading scorer with 11 points. Keegan Soard and Andrew Anderson each chipped in seven points. Batta pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds for the Titans. SCC shot 20 percent from the three-point line as a team, only making two in the loss. With the loss, SCC falls to 16-5 on the season. The Titans are back in action on February 15th against the winner of Eagle Grove and Southeast Valley.

The East Sac County Raiders pick up a win on the road in a defensive battle at Ridge View. The Raiders outscored Ridge View in every quarter. The game was a defensive battle. The Raiders jumped out to an 11-8 lead going to the second quarter. The ESC lead would grow as they put up 12 points in the second quarter. The Raiders would take a 23-16 lead going into the half. The third quarter was the best quarter offensive for both teams. The Raiders lead continued to grow as they took a ten-point lead at 39-29 in the fourth quarter. ESC scored 13 in the fourth and went on to win 52-41.

As a team, the Raiders shot over 50 percent from the field. ESC only shot seven threes in the win, knocking down four of them. ESC had two players scored in double digits. Ryan Clair led the Raiders in scoring with 19 points. Clair also pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. Luke Wright was the team’s second-leading scorer with 11 points. Wright also recorded nine rebounds for the Raiders. As a team, ESC pulled down 28 rebounds. With the win, East Sac County improves to 16-4. The Raiders wrap up their regular season on Friday against MVAOCOU.

The Audubon Wheelers fall on the road at the last second to Tr-Center. The Audubon offense got off to a hot start, scoring 17 points in the first quarter. The Wheelers would lead 17-10 going to the second quarter. Audubon’s offense slowed down in the second quarter, as they only managed seven points. Tri-Center outscored Audubon by seven in the quarter as the game was tied at 24 heading into the half. The third quarter was back and forth. The Wheelers led for most of the second half. The game was still tied going into the fourth quarter, 35-35. Both teams scored 11 points in the quarter. Both offenses picked up the pace offensively in the fourth quarter. The quarter started back and forth. The Wheelers held a one-point lead with two minutes left. Tri-Center had the ball on the last possession down one and knocked down a three-point shot at the buzzer to win 51-49.

The Wheelers went 0-6 down the stretch from the free-throw line. Audubon played their best defensive game of the season against Tri-Center. Aaron Olsen knocked down seven threes for the Wheelers in the loss. Audubon had three players score in double figures. Olsen was the team’s leading scorer with 23 points. Edward Miller was the team’s second-leading scorer with 14 points. Austin Christensen chipped in ten points for the Wheelers.

With the loss, Audubon falls to 7-13 on the season and 5-10 in the Western Iowa Conference. Audubon is back in action on Monday against Panorama.
