South Central Calhoun scored the final four points of regulation, then the first-four points of overtime and held on to beat East Sac 61-58 in overtime. The Titans missed four free throws down the stretch but East Sac missed two shots from three, including a runner from halfcourt at the buzzer. The game featured nine lead changes with nine ties. Gavin Batta and Sam Julin both shot the ball well from deep in the 1st half, then both teams started scoring inside in the 2nd half with Ryan Clair and Caleb Eichorn coming up big for East Sac and Cole Higgins and Keegan Soard making clutch baskets for South Central Calhoun. Higgins scored the final four points of regulation, tying the game with 4.7 second left, then put the Titans up for good to start the overtime.

Sam Julin hit the first of five-threes in the 1st half, giving the Raiders a 3-0 lead. Andrew Anderson tied the game at three and Gavin Batta put the Titans up with the first of three-first half threes for him. Julin and Batta went back and forth making three, tying the game at six and again at nine. Ryan Clair put East Sac back up 11-9 but Batta hit a three and the Titans were up 12-11. Keegan Soard extended the lead to 15-11 but Sam Julin hit another three and Caleb Eichorn scored to put the Raiders up 16-15 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Raiders got Ryan Clair and Luke Wright going in the 2nd quarter, building their lead to 24-17 on a bucket by Clair. Gavin Batta scored five straight for the Titans, pulling them within 24-22. Clair scored to put the Raiders up 4, but Andrew Anderson hit another three and the Titans were down one. Gavin Batta and Sam Julin traded buckets with Julin hitting a three, putting the Raiders up 29-27. Bryce Berquist tied the game at 29 and Cole Higgins tied it again at 31, then put his Titans up 33-31 at half.

Sam Julin tied the game coming out of the half but the Titans got a three from Andrew Anderson and Gavin Batta had a pair of buckets to extend the Titans lead to 40-33. The Titans extended the lead to 43-35 late in the 3rd quarter but Ryan Clair hit a pair of free throws and scored inside to pull East Sac within 43-39. The Titans held a 45-41 lead after the 3rd quarter. Ryan Clair scored a pair of baskets for East Sac to start the 4th, sandwiched by a Keegan Soard bucket. Jackson Rubendall scored on a drive off the left baseline, tying the game at 47. Cole Higgins hit a clutch three for the Titans, then Luke Wright scored inside and Rubendall scored again for East Sac, giving them a 51-50 lead. Kaden Dorman tied the game at 51 but Caleb Eichorn hit back-to-back baskets for East Sac, putting them up 55-51 with under a minute remaining. Cole Higgins pulled South Central Calhoun within two, then tied the game as the Raiders were struggling on the offensive end. The Titans got the ball back and Higgins scored with 4.7 seconds left to tie it at 55. East Sac missed the game winner at the buzzer and the game went to overtime.

Cole Higgins scored in the lane again and South Central Calhoun took the lead for good at 57-55. Keegan Soard extended it to 59-55 but Sam Julin drained a three and the Titans lead was one. Cole Higgins hit a pushed the lead back to three and the Raiders had a pair of long threes but neither fell and the Titans held on for the win.

Gavin Batta had a team high 22-points, hitting 4-11 from three. Cole Higgins had 17-points with 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Keegan Soard had 9-points with 14 rebounds and Andrew Anderson scored 9-points. Bryce Berquist finished with 10 rebounds.

Ryan Clair paced the Raiders with 20-points and 12 rebounds with Sam Julin scoring 18-points on 6-12 from three. Caleb Eichorn scored 10-points with 5 rebounds and Luke Wright had 5 rebounds.

The Titans improved to 16-4 overall and will head to Storm Lake on Thursday. East Sac falls to 15-4 and will travel to Ridge View on Thursday.

Carlisle at Carroll

The Carroll Tigers picked up a much-needed home win over Carlisle. Caden Lengeling started the game on fire as Carroll jumped out to an 8-3 lead. Lengeling recorded all eight points for the Tigers. Going into the second quarter, Carroll would lead by double digits, 26-11. Carlisle cut into the Carroll lead to start the second quarter as they trailed 28-24 halfway through the quarter. Carroll went on a run to end the quarter and led 44-27 going into the half. Carlisle cut into the Carroll lead coming out of the locker rooms as they outscored the Tigers 18-10 in the third quarter. The Tigers would lead 54-45 going to the fourth quarter. Carroll scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and went on to win 68-51.

Evan Hammer was Carroll’s leading scorer with 18 points. Caden Lengeling was the team’s second-leading scorer with 17 points. Will Schultes hit some big threes off the bench for Carroll as he chipped in nine points. As a team, Carroll pulled down 30 rebounds. 

With the win, Carroll improves to 10-9 on the season and 7-7 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers round out the regular season on Friday against ADM.

The Kuemper Knights fall at home to Denison-Schleswig after holding a lead late. The Knights struggled to shoot the basketball as they shot 33 percent from the three-point line. The first quarter was an offensive quarter for both teams. Denison-Schleswig jumped out to a 23-17 lead going to the second quarter. Kuemper cut into the Denison lead in the second quarter, but the Knights still trailed 41-36 at the half. Kuemper was better defensively in the third quarter, holding Denison-Schleswig to only ten points. The Knights would jump out to a 52-51 lead going to the fourth quarter. Kuemper struggled on offense in the fourth quarter, as they only managed to score nine points. Denison-Schleswig would outscore Kuemper 12-9 in the quarter and go on to win 63-61. 

Kuemper was balanced on the offensive end, with three players scoring double figures. Carson Kanne scored a team-high 13 points. The Knights knocked down six of their 18 attempts from the three-point line. Brock Badding knocked down three of them and scored 11 points. Tregan Beiter chipped in 10 points for Kuemper. Kanne and Beiter pulled down a team-high six rebounds each. As a team, the Knights only recorded 21 rebounds.

With the loss, Kuemper fell to 16-3 on the season and 9-2 in the Hawkeye Ten. The Knights are back in action Thursday against South Hamilton.

Audubon used a 14-3 run in the 4th quarter to rally and earn their second straight win. The Wolves led most of the game, going up 12-10 in the 1st quarter, then extending it to 25-18  in the 2nd quarter for their largest lead of the game. The Wheelers pulled it to 28-25 at half with a 7-3 spurt to close the 1st half. Both teams scored 15-points in the 3rd quarter as the Wolves led by 3 going into the final stanza. IKM-Manning edged in front 47-42 early in the 4th but Audubon responded with a 14-3 run to end the game, shooting the ball well down the stretch.

The Wheelers had four players in double figures with Aaron Olsen leading the way with 13-points, Austin Christensen 12-points, Carson Wessel 11-points and Brody Schultes finishing with 10-points. Edward Miller added 8-points in the win.

Ben Ramsey led the Wolves with 15-points along with 3 steals. Miles Nuzback added 10-points with 7 rebounds and Justin Segebart with 12-points and 4 assists. Ross Kusel added 8-points with 4 steals.

The Wheelers improved to 7-12 on the season and will close out the regular season on Thursday at Tri Center. IKM-Manning falls to 12-9 and will host West Monona in the opening round of districts on 93.7 KKRL on Monday.

Glidden Ralston shot the ball well early, jumping out to a 10-3 lead. That was followed by some baskets in transitions and the Wildcats led 16-9 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Wildcats extended the lead to twelve to start the 2nd quarter before the Rockets were able to settle in as the game went back and forth the rest of the quarter, giving Glidden Ralston a 29-17 lead at half. Jonathan Bergmeier paced the Wildcats with 15-points in the 1st half.

Glidden Ralston pushed the lead to fifteen in the 3rd quarter but Paton Churdan responded with 4-3’s to pull within four. The Wildcats responded with their own run and led 45-36 going to the 4th quarter. Glidden Ralston established Charles Schon in the 4th quarter and hit free throws down the stretch to win 61-47.

Jonathan Bergmeier led the Wildcats with 21-points with Colby Wallace adding 14-points and Charles Schon scoring 12-points.

Cayden Stream had a game high 23-points for Paton Churdan, Phoenix Hartman added 11-points and Trevon Keely finished with 7-points.

The Wildcats improved to 8-13 overall and will travel to CAM on Monday in the second round of Districts. Paton Churdan falls to 1-18 overall and will host Woodward Academy in the opening round of the Districts.
