The Carroll Tigers struggles continued Monday night despite holding a ten-point lead in the first half. Carroll jumped out to an eight-point lead in the first quarter, 23-15. The Tigers would extend that lead to ten early in the second quarter. Gilbert’s offense caught fire after Carroll jumped out to a double-digit lead. Gilbert outscored Carroll 27-9 in the second quarter and knocked down six threes from behind the arc. Carroll would trail 42-32 going into the half. The Tigers would cut into Gilbert’s lead in the third quarter, scoring 20 points. Carroll would trail by seven going to the fourth quarter, 59-52. Gilbert outscored Carroll 23-19 in the fourth quarter and went on to win 82-71. 

Carroll had two players score over 20 points. Caden Lengeling scored a team-high 25 points for the Tigers. Evan Hammer was the other Carroll player in double figures with 20 points. Jared Mohr chipped in eight points. Hammer pulled down a team-high seven rebounds and also recorded a team-high six assists. 

With the loss, Carroll fell to 9-9 and 6-7 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday against Carlisle.

Coon Rapids Bayard wrapped up the regular season with a hard fought win against Glidden Ralston, which battled hard all game, rallying back from double digits twice in the 2nd half. The Crusaders hit several critical shots as the Wildcats were diving all over the floor to keep them in the game. Coon Rapids Bayard built a 11-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and led 27-23 at half as Jonathan Bergmeier shot the Wildcats into the game in the 1st half, scoring 10-points. Cal Heydon was strong for the Crusaders, doing most of his work around the lane, but he stepped out to hit a pair of 3’s. The game was still a 4-point game after the 3rd, though Coon Rapids Bayard had went up by 11-points. Their lead grew to 12 in the 4th quarter but Glidden Ralston hit a few clutch 3’s down the stretch to get within six with 0:30 left.

Jonathan Bergmeier put Glidden Ralston up 2-0 to start the game and Charles Schon made it 4-2 before Cal Heydon scored five straight to put Coon Rapids Bayard ahead to stay. Gavin Heiderscheit extended it to 11-4 before Colby Wallacd pulled the Wildcats within 11-6 at the end of the 1st quarter. Jonathan Bergmeier scored to start the 2nd quarter and the Wildcats were down 11-8. A Gavin Heiderscheit 3, pushed the Crusaders up 14-8. A Colby Wallace moments later pulled Glildden Ralston within 14-13. Cal Heydon scored a bucket with a free throw, keeping the Crusaders lead between 1-3-p0ints. Heydon extended the lead to 20-16 and Cade Behrens hit a pair of free throws to push it to 6. Kolby Culbertson scored inside and Coon Rapids Bayard appeared in control. Charles Schon and Wade Hunter scored inside to get the Wildcats right back in the game at 24-20. A Parker Hays was followed by a three from Jonathan Bergmeier and the Crusaders held a 27-23 lead at half.

Parker Hays hit a 3 early in the 3rd quarter, stretching the Crusaders lead to 32-23. It was followed by a Cal Heydon bucket to give the Crusaders their biggest lead at 11. Charles Schon and Emmett Sndyer scored for Glidden Ralston and they chipped away, pulling within 36-33 on a Colby Wallace pair of free throws. The lead stayed around 5-7 for Coon Rapids Bayard until Ty Heydon drained a deep 3 at the end of the shot clock to push the Crusaders lead to 43-35. Jonathan Bergmeier scored 4 straight points to get the Wildcats within 43-39 at the end of  the 3rd. Cade Behrens started the 4th with a bucket for Coon Rapids Bayard but Jonathan Bergmeier pulled the Wildcats within 45-42 with a deep 3. Cal Heydon was fouled on a bucket and hit the free throw, followed by a Cade Behrens 3 and another bucket from Cal Heydon. The Crusaders pushed the lead to 12 on another bucket by Cal Heydon, up 55-43. Colby Wallace  hit a 3 and scored inside to pull Glidden Ralston within 55-48. A pair of free throws stretched the lead to 57-48, but Jonathan Bergmeier hit another 3, cutting it to 57-51. Glidden Ralston got a steal and had a chance to pull within 3 but couldn’t score and Coon Rapids Bayard held on.

Cal Heydon lead the Crusaders with 29-points with Cade Berhens having 7-points and 7 rebounds and Gavin Heiderscheit finished with 7-points. Caden Oswald added 7 assists while Parker Hays had 6-points and 5 rebounds.

Jonathan Bergmeier led three Wildcats with 20-points along with 3 steals. Colby Wallace added 16-points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Charles Schon had 12-points and 7 rebounds. Mark Lensch grabbed 6 rebounds.

Coon Rapids Bayard moved to 17-4 overall and 13-3 in the RVC. They host Griswold on February 12th in their opening postseason game. Glidden Ralston fell to 7-13 overall and 5-10 in the RVC. They head to Paton Churdan on Tuesday to end the regular season.

A 7-0 run early put the Wolves on top for good as they earned their fifth straight win, moving to 12-8 overall. IKM-Manning trailed 8-4 midway through the 1st quarter before a 7-0 run put them up 11-8 at the end of the 1st quarter. They kept the momentum going to start the 2nd quarter, but the Rams kept it close with IKM-Manning up 22-16 at half. The Wolves opened the game up in the 3rd, using a 13-3 run to lead 35-19 late and were up 40-26 heading to the 4th quarter. The Rams pulled close to start the 4th, trailing 40-31 but the Wolves had another run in them, outscoring the Rams 13-1 to lead 53-32.

Ben Ramsey had a team high 23-points with 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Ross Kusel finished with 17-points and Lane Sams had 9-points and 5 rebounds.

The Wolves close out the regular season Tuesday at Audubon.

The Rockets did not do a great job on the defensive glass Tuesday night in a loss on the road at CAM. The first quarter was high-scoring as CAM jumped out to a 23-17 lead after the first quarter. Ar-We-Va cut into the CAM lead in the second quarter. The Rockets trailed by five at the half, 35-30. CAM came out of the locker room strong as they grew their lead to 55-46 going to the fourth. CAM extended their lead in the fourth quarter as they went on to beat Ar-We-Va 68-54.

The Rockets had four players in double figures. Ar-We-Va was led in scoring by Wyatt Ragaller, who recorded 15 points. Wade Ragaller was the Rockets second leading scorer with 14 points. Emmett Neumann chipped in 13 points for Ar-We-Va. Blayne Smith was the last Rocket player in double figures with 12 points. Smith pulled down a team-high six rebounds.

With the loss, Ar-We-Va wraps up their regular season 12-9 and 8-8 in the Rolling Valley Conference.

Trevon Keely paced the Rockets at home as they fell to 1-17 on the season with a home loss to Woodbine. The Rockets fell behind 20-6 at the end of the 1st quarter and 44-20 at half, The offense worked well in the 2nd quarter, scoring 20-points against the conference title Tigers. Kinnick Steimel added 7-points and Cayden Stream finished up with 5-points.

The Rockets close out the regular season on Tuesday, hosting Glidden Ralston.
