The Kuemper Knights trailed early in the game, but good shooting from the outside led to a blowout win over Shenandoah. Kuemper started the game with a bang as Colby Pudenz hit Carter Putney on a lob that resulted in a dunk for the first points of the game. Shenandoah would take a 3-2 lead. Kuemper would end the quarter on a 14-2 run to take a 16-5 lead going to the second. In the second quarter, Kuemper shot well from the outside. Brock Badding knocked down five of Kuemper’s seven threes in the second quarter. The Knights would take a commanding lead 45-14 lead at the half. Kuemper would extend their lead 63-21 going to the fourth quarter. The Knights would go on to pick up a blowout win 87-42.
Brock Badding was the Knights leading scorer with 22 points. Badding knocked down six threes from the outside. Carter Putney was the second-leading scorer with 14 points. Putney also pulled down a team-high ten rebounds. As a team, Kuemper recorded 37 rebounds. The Knights also shared the basketball well, recording 28 assists as a team.
With the win, the Knights improved to 16-2 and 9-1 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. Kuemper is back in action on Tuesday against Denison-Schleswig.

Carroll returned to the win column with a road win over Boone Friday night. Carroll’s defense was excellent against Boone, holding them to only 43 points. Carroll outscored Boone 11-6 in the first quarter. Carroll’s offense picked up the pace in the second quarter, scoring 18 points. The Tigers would take a 29-17 lead going into the locker room. Boone cut into the Carroll lead in the third quarter. Carroll was outscored 12-10 in the quarter but still led 39-29. Both teams scored 14 points in the third quarter, and the Tigers would go on to win 53-43.
Payton Wardell was Carroll’s leading scorer with ten points. Evan Hammer did a good job of passing from the post, recording a team-high six assists. Hammer also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. As a team, Carroll pulled down 28 rebounds. With the win, Carroll ends a five-game losing streak.
The Carroll Tigers improve to 9-7 and 6-6 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers are back in action on Saturday at home against Denison-Schleswig.

The Raiders have struggled on the road this year but picked up a win against Southeast Valley Friday night. As a team, the Raiders shot 54 percent from the field. East Sac County led from the start of the game as they jumped out to an 18-7 lead in the first quarter. The Raiders extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring Southeast Valley 20-17. ESC led 38-24 at the half. East Sac County’s lead continued to grow in the third quarter as they scored 18 points. The Raiders would go on to win 67-51 over Southeast Valley.
Ryan Clair recorded his fourth straight double-double with 28 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Karter Ludwig was the other Raider in double figures with 11 points. As a team, ESC shot 54 percent from the floor. Sam Julin, Luke Wright, and Caleb Eichorn each chipped in seven points for ESC. The Raiders, as a team, pulled down 30 rebounds.
With the win, East Sac County improves to 15-3 on the season and 9-2 in the Twin Lake Conference. The Raiders are back in action on Tuesday against South Central Calhoun.

The South Central Calhoun Titans completed a second-half comeback in a road win at Manson NW Webster. The Titans found themselves down 19-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Manson NW Webster lead grew in the second quarter as they outscored SCC 17-15. Manson NW Webster led 36-28 at the half. The Titans’ defense picked it up in the second half, holding the Cougars to 15 points in total. SCC would tie the game up, going to the fourth quarter at 44-44. The great defensive play continued in the fourth quarter, and SCC would go on to win 61-51.
South Central Calhoun had three players in double figures. Gavin Batta was the Titans leading scorer with 21 points. Batta also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Cole Higgins was the second-leading scorer with 18 points. Andrew Anderson chipped in 12 points for the Titans. As a team, SCC pulled down 31 rebounds. The Titans shot it at a 40 percent clip from the floor.
With the win, SCC improves to 14-4 on the season and 10-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Titans are back in action on Saturday against Spencer.

The Ar-We-Va Rockets knocked off Glidden-Ralston in a Rolling Valley Conference game Friday night. Glidden-Ralston had a slow start to the game as Ar-We-Va jumped out to an early lead. The Rockets would lead 14-9 going to the second quarter. Both teams scored 11 points in the second quarter. Ar-We-Va held a 25-20 lead at the half. Glidden-Ralston would trail by as much as ten in the second quarter. The Rockets would extend the lead to 36-24 halfway through the third quarter. Glidden-Ralston chipped into the lead and would trail 40-35 going to the fourth quarter. The Wildcats trailed by four points with three minutes left, but Ar-We-Va would go on to win 57-47.
Glidden-Ralston hit ten threes in the game. Ar-We-Va was in foul trouble most of the night. Blayne Smith was the Rockets leading scorer with 19 points. Emmett Neumann was the team’s second-leading scorer with 13 points. Jonathan Bergmeier was the Wildcats leading scorer with 21 points. Bergmeier knocked down five threes during the game. Colby Wallace was Glidden-Ralston’s second-leading scorer with 18 points.
With the win, Ar-We-Va improves to 12-8 and 8-7 in the Rolling Valley. Glidden-Ralston falls to 7-12 and 5-9 in conference play. The Rockets are back in action on Monday against CAM. The Wildcats next game is on Monday against Coon Rapids-Bayard.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders pick up a blowout home win over Boyer Valley. The Crusaders shot the ball well, shooting it 50 percent from the field. The game started back and forth as CRB held a 25-21 lead going into the second quarter. The Crusaders would extend their lead going into the locker room 46-34. Boyer Valley would cut into the CRB lead as they outscored the Crusaders 20-15 in the quarter. Coon Rapids-Bayard would lead 61-54 going to the fourth quarter. The Crusaders scored 19 points in the fourth quarter and went on to win 80-65.
Cal Heydon recorded 30 points for CRB, which was a team-high. Cade Behrens was the team’s second-leading scorer with 18 points. Behrens knocked down five threes for the Crusaders. Cade pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. Heydon was second on the team with ten rebounds. Kolby Culbertson chipped in 16 points for CRB.
With the win, Coon Rapids-Bayard improves to 16-4 and 12-3 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Crusaders are back in action on Monday against Glidden-Ralson.

IKM-Manning won their third in a row, dominating from the start against LoMa and avenging a loss from earlier this season. The Wolves used a 15-0 run in the 1st quarter to stretch a 7-3 lead to 22-3 late in the quarter. The Panthers hit a 3 to make it 22-6 at the end of the 1st quarter, then used the momentum to pull within 22-1. IKM-Manning answered, outscoring the Panthers 12-5 the rest of the half to lead 36-16 at halftime. A 19-2 run by IKM-Manning in the 3rd quarter put the game away, giving them a 54-25 lead heading into the 4th quarter.
Ross Kusel had a team high 24-points with 3 steals while Lane Sams had a strong double-double with 16-points and 14 rebounds. Sams added 5 assists. Ben Ramsey gave the Wolves a third player in double figures with 12-points while pulling down 5 rebounds and dishing out 7 assists. He tied with Justin Segebart for the team lead in steals with 4.
The Wolves sit 11-8 on the season and 8-7 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to MVAOCOU on Monday.
