Carroll At Ames High
Carroll had their best meet of the season, qualifying 9 events and 10 swims to the State Tournament on Saturday in Iowa City. Carroll broke six schools records in the meet, helping them finish 3rd in the team race with 255-points. Sioux City West won the event with 426-points and the host school Ames took 2nd with 420-points.
The 200 Medley Relay team started the day strong finishing in 2nd place with a new school record of 1:37.57. Kyle Sundrup, Leegan Sease, Ty Thomas and Teagen Renze qualified 8th for the State Meet. Tristan Blair followed that up, taking 7th in the 200 Free, qualifying 31st for State with a 1:48.60 and Carroll sends two in the 100 Fly with Leegan Sease taking 4th in a new school record time of 52.92, earning him 17th seed at State while teammate Ty Thomas qualified 31st by finishing 6th with a 54.63. Teagen Renze added 2nd place finish in the 100 Free with a 47.46, earning a 7th seed. Tristan Blair made State in the 500 Free, seeded 24th after finishing 6th with a 4:58.59 which is a new school record. The 200 Free Relay became their second relay to qualify for State with Kyle Sundrup, Jacob Greving, Tristan Blair and Leegan Sease. They finished 6th in 1:31.33. Teagen Renze qualified in the 100 Back with a 51.01, taking 1st place and earning a 4th seed at State. The 51.01 is a new school record. Leagen Sease continued his great day, qualifying in the 100 Breast while also setting a new school record in the 100 Breast. Sease swum a 59.36. The 400 Free Relay capped their outstanding performance, then finished 4th with a 3:16.50 which is a new school record and placed them 4th at the meet and 15th at the State Meet. The team consisted of Tristan Blair, Ty Thomas, Jacob Greving and Teagen Renze.
The State Meet is Saturday, February 10th.
