Shenandoah at Kuemper

The Kuemper Knights played exceptionally well on the defensive end as they picked up a win at home over Shenandoah. Shenandoah jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game. Kuemper would end the quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 6-5 lead going to the second quarter. The Knights would jump out to a 14-5 lead halfway through the second quarter. Kuemper would lead 14-10 at the half. Shenandoah cut into the Kuemper lead in the third quarter. The Knights were outscored 10-9 in the quarter. Kuemper led 23-20 going to the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was the best for Kuemper. They outscored Shenandoah 15-7 in the fourth quarter and went on to win 38-27. 

Frannie Glynn scored a team-high 12 points. Glynn also recorded a double-double, pulling down ten rebounds for the Knights. Kaylie Simons was the team’s second-leading scorer with 11 points off the bench. As a team, Kuemper recorded 15 steals. Simons recorded six of those steals.

With the win, Kuemper improves to 7-12 on the season and 4-6 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. The Knights are back in action on Tuesday against Denison-Schleswig.

Carroll At Boone

Carroll earned their third win this week and fourth in their last five games, using another dominating defensive performance. The Tigers held Boone to 10 or fewer points in all four quarters and only gave up double digits once. They were able to use their length on offense with Ali Kock having a strong night on the glass and finishing well inside. Carroll led 14-7 at the end of the 1st quarter then put the game away in the 4th quarter, outsourcing Boone 14-4. The Tigers were limited in possessions with Boone packing in a zone defense, forcing Carroll to take more time off the clock on most possessions. Carroll had 11 assists on 19 made baskets. 

Ali Kock had a game high 15-points along with 8 rebounds to lead Carroll. Sophia Tidgren had 8-points with 10 rebounds and Olivia Rowedder scored 9-points while adding 10 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. 

Carroll moves to 9-7 overall and 7-6 in the Raccoon River Conference. They are home to Denison Schleswig on 93.7 KKRL on Saturday.

Ar-We-Va earns their 4th win of the season, edging past Glidden Ralston at home on Friday. The game was tight throughout with Glidden Ralston leading by 1 at the end of the 1st quarter and Ar-We-Va holding a 23-21 lead at half. The two teams played even basketball in the 3rd and the Rockets were able to maintain the lead in the 4th quarter. Tiela Janssen went over 1,000 points in her career for Glidden Ralston in the loss. 

Three Rockets scored in double figures with Gabby Hundling leading the way with 17-points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals, Delaney Schurke finished with 12-points and Amber Ragaller added 10-points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Azaya Martinex scored 8-points  with 6 rebounds and Hallie McCollough pulled down 8 rebounds. 

Tiela Janssen had 24-points, going over 1,000 for her career. Allison Snyder had 7-points and Brileigh Bock had 5-points. 

Ar-We-Va improves to 4-17 overall and 3-12 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to CAM on Monday. Glidden Ralston dropped their 11th straight game, falling to 4-15 overall and 3-11 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They are at Coon Rapids Bayard on KIKD 106.7 on Monday.

East Sac tried to battle back after a slow start but ran out of steam in the 2nd half and SE Valley was able to stretch the lead out, dropping the Raiders to 7-13 overall. The Raiders struggled to score in the 1st quarter, falling behind 21-6, shooting 36% from the field and making 8-20 from the free throw line. They heated up the 2nd quarter, cutting a 21-6 deficit to 35-25. They hung tough in the 2nd half but the Jaguars outscored them 27-20. 

Addisen Ehler had another double-double with 13-points and 13 rebounds. Sarah Bontrager had a team high 18-points with Kendall Quirk adding 10 rebounds and Makenna Steiger had 6 rebounds. 

The Raiders are 7-13 overall heading into Tuesday’s game at South Central Calhoun on KIKD 106.7.

IKM-Manning won their second in a row as they continue to improve, topping LoMa at home to move to 4-16 on the season. The Wolves trailed by a point after the 1st quarter but were up at half and then  took charge in the 3rd quarter. IKM-Manning outscored the Panthers 15-3 in the 3rd, taking a 38-22 lead into the final stanza. They established the inside game with Taylor Beckendorf and got a pair of 3’s from Emma Reginato. Anna Stangl continues to produce on the offensive end, leading them with 19-points along with making 6 steals. Beckendorf nearly had a double-double with 12-points and 9 rebounds. Reginato had 6-points and 6 rebounds. 

IKM-Manning looks for their third straight win at MVAOCOU on Monday.

Coon Rapids Bayard played outstanding again on the defensive end, winning their 7th straight as they improved to 16-3 on the season. The defense held the Bulldogs to 8 or less points in all four quarters, building a 23-12 lead at half. They finished the game with 17 steals, allowing them to get extra possessions, helping an offense that struggled to hit shots on Friday. Breeley Clayburg led three players in double figures with 16-points with Malia Clayburg and Ashtyn Klocke both scoring 10-points. Malia had a team high 7 rebounds with Breeley adding 6 rebounds. Lydia Hofbauer continues to do the things her team needs to win games, leading the team with 6 steals with Aubrey Hofbauer adding 4 steals. Lydia added 5 rebounds with Ella Heithoff pulling down 6 rebounds. 

The Crusaders are back in action on Monday as they host Glidden Ralston on KIKD 106.7.

South Central Calhoun earned a  nice road win, shooting 48.8% from the field and collecting 16 steals as they played well on both ends of the court. The Titans took the early lead, going up 13-5 at the end of the 1st quarter. They kept the pressure on the Cougars all game, out scoring them in every quarter. The Titans built a 29-16 lead at half, out scoring the Cougars 25-17 in the 2nd half. 

Bre Patterson paced the Titans with 17-points with good balance behind her. Sadie Wheelock had 8-points with Brenna McAlister, Blair Schleisman and Adlen Wheelock all scoring 7-points. Sadie Wheelock had a team high 7 rebounds with Mia Babcock pulling down 6 rebounds and Macie Dorman with 5 rebounds. Blair Schleisman had a team high 5 steals and Patterson added 4 steals. 

The win improves the Titans to 6-13 on the season as they prepare to host Spencer on Saturday.

The Rockets trailed 37-35 heading into the 4th quarter but the game slipped away in the final stanza, dropping them to 0-18 on the season. Paton Churdan was outscored in the 4th quarter 21-3. They rallied back in the 2nd and 3rd quarters after falling behind 11-6 at the end of the 1st quarter. Alivya Smith was a big part of the rally, scoring a team high 25-points with Kaliyan Minnehan adding 9-points. 

The Rockets will host Woodbine on Monday.
