The Ar-We-Va Rockets dropped a close game on the road Thursday night. The game started as a defensive contest, but Ar-We-Va held a three-point lead of 10-7 going to the second quarter. Logan-Magnolia’s offense got going in the second quarter. The Rockets were outscored in the second quarter and trailed 26-24 at the half. Ar-We-Va led 37-30 in the third quarter before Logan-Magnolia went on a 16-0 run and took a 46-38 lead going to the fourth. The Rockers were able to rally in the fourth and trailed by four with 1:15 left. Ar-We-Va would go on to lose 62-57.

Emmett Neumann and Wyatt Ragaller each recorded 19 points for the Rockets. Neumann pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in the loss. Harley Molina and Wade Ragaller chipped in seven points each for the Rockets. With the loss, Ar-We-Va falls to 11-7. The Rockets are back in action on Friday against Glidden-Ralston.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusader shot the basketball well at home Thursday night in a win over ACGC. The Crusaders knocked down 21 free throws and shot over 80 percent from the line. In the win, CRB hit five threes. As a team, CRB pulled down 28 rebounds. CRB had two players in double figures. Cal Heydon was the leading scorer with 32 points. Heydon shot 64 percent from the field. Caden Oswald was the other Crusaders’ player in double digits with 15. Oswald was perfect from the free-throw line, going 11-11. Cade Behrens knocked down three threes from the Crusaders as he chipped in nine points. With the win, CRB improves to 15-4 on the season. The Crusaders are back in action against Boyer Valley on Friday.

Besides the big loss, the Glidden-Ralston Wildcats played one of their best games of the season. Madrid came into the game ranked number two. The Wildcats started the first quarter shooting the well. The game would be tied 19-19 going to the second quarter. Madrid went on a run in the second quarter, and Glidden-Ralston struggled to shoot the ball. The Wildcats would trail 41-26 at the half. The Madrid lead would grow in the third quarter to 65-41. Glidden-Ralston needed more firepower on offense to keep up with Madrid, as they would go on to lose 84-51.

Glidden-Ralston had three players in double figures. Colby Wallace and Charles Schon each recorded a team-high 12 points. Jonathan Bergmeier chipped in 11 for the Wildcats. With the loss, Glidden-Ralston falls to 7-11 on the season. The Wildcats are back in action on Friday against Ar-We-Va.

The Audubon Wheelers pick up an exciting come-from-behind victory over CAM on the road. Both team’s offenses started the game hot, as the first quarter was back and forth. The game would be tied 17-17 going to the second quarter. The Wheeler’s offense struggled in the second quarter. The Wheelers only managed five points and would trail 28-22 at the half. Audubon struggled to get the offense going again in the third quarter. The Wheelers were outscored 10-7 in the quarter. Audubon trailed by nine, 38-29, going to the fourth. Audubon’s offense in the fourth quarter got hot again, scoring 31 points. The Wheelers hit four threes in the quarter. Edward Miller hit a big three to give the Wheelers a 53-52 lead. Audubon would not give up the lead the rest of the game and went on to win 60-57.

Brody Schultes was the Wheeler’s leading scorer, scoring 15 points off the bench. Schultes scored 13 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, which led to the Wheeler’s comeback. Edward Miller was the team’s second-leading scorer with 14 points, and Austin Christensen chipped in 12 for the Wheelers.

The win ends Audubon’s four-game losing streak. The Wheelers improve to 6-12 on the season. Audubon is back in action on Tuesday against IKM-Manning.

IKM-Manning had one of their best offensive nights in a blowout win over Boyer Valley at home Thursday night. Boyer Valley took an early 4-2. IKM-Manning responded with a 16-1 run. The Wolves would take a 23-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. IKM-Manning started the second quarter on a 15-0 run and took a 50-19 lead at the half. The third quarter started back and forth. Halfway through the quarter, the running clock was on, and IKM-Manning would go on to win 70-44.

Ross Kusel recorded a team-high 36 points for the Wolves. Miles Nuzback chipped in 11 points for IKM-Manning. Ben Ramsey and Nuzback recorded eight rebounds each. With the win, IKM-Manning improves to 10-8 on the season. The Wolves are back in action on Friday against Logan-Magnolia.

The Kuemper Knight got back in the win column Thursday night with a win on the road at Harlan. Both teams started the game on fire as the scorer was tied 20-20 at the end of the first quarter. The offense continued to play well in the second quarter, but Kuemper trailed 29-27 at the half. Kuemper shot the basketball well from the three-point line, knocking down 13. As a team, Kuemper shot 50 percent from the field in the game. The Knights offensive output continued in the third quarter as they outscored Harlan 22-11 in the quarter. Kuemper would take a 49-40 lead going to the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was the lowest-scoring quarter for both teams. Kuemper outscored Harlan 13-7 as they went on to win 72-57.

Tregan Beiter scored a team-high 17 points for the Knights. Kuemper had three players score in double digits. Carsen Kanne was the Knights’s second-leading scorer with 15 points. Michael Kasperbauer chipped in 12 points. Kuemper recorded 22 assists on 28 made baskets in the win. Kanne recorded a team-high seven assists. Carter Putney pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

With the win, Kuemper improves to 15-2 on the season and 8-1 in the Hawkeye Ten. The Knights are back in action on Friday against Shenandoah.
