Aubrey Heuton hitting 3’s and Kuemper strong defensive and rebounds helped the Knights cling to a 2-point lead at half, after leading by 21-points midway through the 2nd quarter. A dominant 3rd quarter where the Knights held the Thunder scoreless for nearly 6:00, building a 36-22 lead. They outscored the Thunder 25-7 in the 3rd and cruised to a blowout win.

Kuemper took charge early in the game after the Thunder scored first to lead 2-0. Frannie Glynn tied the game at 2, then Aubrey Heuton hit back-to-back 3’s, followed by a 2-point basket gave the Knights a 10-2 lead. Grand View Christian hit a 3, but Charlotte Hackfort answered and the Knights were up 13-5 on their way to a 16-9 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Karsyn Overmohle helped Kuemper extend the lead early in the 2nd quarter, then Aubrey Heuton hit another 3 to push the lead to 21-11. The Knights scored 3-points the rest of the quarter and Grand View Christian chipped away, getting a 3 at the buzzer from Maiah Murphy at the 1st half buzzer and the Knights lead was trimmed to 24-22.

Lauren Boell scored to start the 3rd, followed by a bucket from Frannie Glynn, a 3 from Kaylie Simons and a 3 Elsa Tiefenthaler and a bucket from Lauren Boell. The Knights had blown the game open, up 36-22. Grand View Christian pulled within 11, but the Knights pushed lead back up quickly, going up by as many as 30-points.

Aubrey Heuton led a balanced attack with 11-points with Frannie Glynn with 10-points, Lauren Boell and Elsa Tiefenthaler both with 9-points and Kaylie Simons with 8-points. Lauren Boell led them with 8 rebounds with Frannie Glynn and Alivia Schenkelberg both with 6 rebounds and Elsa Tiefenthaler and Addy Anthofer both with 5 rebounds. Tiefenthaler added 5 assists with Lauren Boell and Frannie Glynn each with 3 assists.

The Knights improved to 6-11 overall and head to Harlan on Thursday.

ADM At Carroll

The Carroll Tigers recorded one of their best defensive efforts of the season in a win at home against ADM Monday night. The game started slow but was back and forth. Carroll was up 6-4 halfway through the quarter as both teams’ defenses started strong. The Tigers would take a 15-8 lead going into the second quarter. The Tigers picked up the pace defensively in the second quarter, holding ADM to only five points. Carroll would lead by as much as ten in the second quarter but would be up 21-13 going into the locker rooms. 

Carroll’s defense picked up where it left off in the second half, holding ADM to six points in the third quarter. The Tiger lead would grow to as much as 14 in the quarter. Carroll took a 31-19 lead going to the fourth quarter. ADM was able to get their offense going in the fourth quarter as they cut into the Carroll lead. ADM outscored the Tigers 20-17 in the quarter. Carroll would go on to win 48-39.

Carroll was balanced on offense, with eight different girls getting in the scoring column. Katelyn Aden led the Tigers with 12 points. Carly Menken recorded ten points for Carroll. As a team, Carroll pulled down 29 rebounds. Aden pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. 

With the win, Carroll improves to 7-7 on the season and 5-6 in the Raccoon River Conference. Carroll is back in action on Tuesday against Bondurant-Farrar.

Ar-We-Va started strong but a tough 2nd quarter put them in a hole they didn’t recover from. The Rockets led 7-6 going into the 2nd quarter but trailed 24-9 at half. Maclayn Houston and Danielle Cooper got going for the Hawkeye, scoring 16-points each and the Hawks shot the ball well in the 3rd quarter to extend the lead to 43-19. The Rockets nearly had two players in double figures with Amber Ragaller leadin the way with 14-p0ints and Gabby Hundling added 9-points. The rest of the team combined to score 3-points. Gabby Hundling had a team high 8 rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double. Amber Ragaller had 6 rebounds with Karime Sanchez finishing with 4 rebounds. Delaney Schurke and Azaya Martinez both had 2 steals.

The loss drops the Rockets to 3-15 overall and 2-11 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Boyer Valley on Tuesday.

IKM-Manning nearly rallied after a tough 3rd quarter but fell short in a tight loss at  home. The Wolves led at half by 1, but struggles from the field, crept into the 2nd half. They shot 31% from the field with most of their troubles inside. They knocked down 7-16 from beyond the arc, hitting 44% and attacked the rim to shoot 35 free throws, making 22 of them. They shot 6-26 from inside the arc. Riverside outscored the Wolves 20-11 in the 3rd quarter, using turnovers to spark the run. IKM-Manning had 35 turnovers with the Bulldogs with 22 steals. IKM-Manning fought back in the 4th quarter, putting 21-points on the board but allowed 18-points.

Anna Stangl had a strong offensive game, leading the Wolves with 26-points with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Mckenna Benton had 12-points with 3 steals, Abby Nieheisel added 7-points and 9 rebounds. Emma Reginato had 6-points and 3 steals. Alikxa McGinn added 5 rebounds.

The loss drops the Wolves to 2-15 overall and 1-11 in the Western Iowa Conference. They head to Missouri Valley on Thursday.

A tough offensive night dropped Glidden Ralston to 4-12 on the season as they fall on the road to start a busy week. The Wildcats defense played well, holding West Central Valley to 42-points with just 4-points in the 2nd quarter. Glidden Ralston couldn’t get anything to drop in the 1st half, scoring 3-points in each quarter to trail 16-6 at half. They picked things up in the 2nd half but weren’t able to trim into the deficit. Tiela Janssen had nearly half the Wildcats points with 12-points with Kassidy Wenck and Brileigh Bock both having 4-points.

The busy week doesn’t get any easier as they travel to CAM on Tuesday.

South Central Calhoun trailed 28-26 in the 2nd quarter but the Wildcats closed the half on a 11-0 run to lead 39-26 at half, then outscore the Titans 13-0 in the 3rd to blow the game open. The Titans played well most of the 1st half, but the struggles on offense dropped them to 39% from the field and 44% from 3. They didn’t get to the line often, going 1-2. Turnovers played a part in the Wildcats runs in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, finishing with 22 turnovers.

Breanne Patterson had a team high 13-oints with 6 rebounds. Sadie Wheelock added 8-points and 7 rebounds with Mia Babcock finishing with 7-pionts and 7 rebounds. Macie Dorman scored 5-points.

The loss drops the Titans to 5-12 overall. They host SE Valley on Tuesday.
