The two teams scrimmaged during the summer so there wasn’t much they didn’t know about each other coming into the matchup, helping the defenses have the upper hand. Both teams struggled to start the game with Kuemper holding a 6-4 lead at the of the quarter. Frannie Glynn had a monster game on the boards for Kuemper as her, Elsa Tiefenthaler and Kaylie Simons helped the Knights build a 23-15 lead at half. Ella Heithoff kept the Crusaders close, setting up their 2nd half rally.
The Crusaders defense began to create some issues, setting up their offense in the 3rd as CRB pulled within 1, 30-29 after three quarters. Breeley Clayburg came up big for Coon Rapids Bayard in the 4th quarter, helping them rally for a come from behind 39-38 win.
Breeley Clayburg led the Crusaders with 14-points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Malia Clayburg added 8-points and 9 rebounds. Aubrey Hofbauer had 8-points while Anna Hart had 6 assists and 8 steals.
Frannie Glynn played well for Kuemper with 22 rebounds and 9-points, while Elsa Tiethenthaler led them in scoring with 13-points along with 5 rebounds. Kaylie Simons had 8-points and a pair of steals and Aubrey Heuton added 4 steals.
The win improves Coon Rapids Bayard to 13-3 overall while Kuemper slips to 5-11. The Crusaders head to Woodbine for a huge conference game on Tuesday while Kuemper entertains Grand View Christian on Monday on KIKD 106.7.

Ar-We-Va earned their third win of the season, showing some grit and toughness late on the road. Gabby Hundling scored all 9-points for Ar-We-Va in the 1st quarter as they build 2-0 and 9-5 leads behind her offensive and defensive aggressiveness early. Storm Lake St Mary’s tied the game at 5-5 before Hundling scored 4 in a row to give the Rockets their largest lead at that point. A late 1st quarter bucket for the Panthers gave them momentum going into the 2nd quarter and they took their only lead of the game at 10-9 to start the quarter. The Panthers stretched the lead to 12-9 but Ar-We-Va responded with a 9-0 run and never trailed again. Amber Ragaller pulled Ar-We-Va within 12-11, then put them back ahead 13-12. Gabby Hundling hit one of her 4-3’s, extending the lead to 16-12 before Ragaller scored again, making it 18-12 Ar-We-Va. Storm Lake St Mary’s pulled within three, twice over the next couple minutes but Ar-We-Va got a three from Delaney Schurke and a bucket from Schurke to lead 25-17 at half.
The Rockets looked like they would blow the game away in the 3rd quarter with Azaya Martinez hitting a three, followed by buckets from Delaney Schurke and Gabby Hundling. Schurke hit a pair of free throws and Ar-We-Va went up 36-20. The Panther responded with the final 6-points of the 3rd quarter, gaining momentum. They scored to start the 4th but Gabby Hundling hit a big 3 for Ar-We-Va, stretching the lead to 39-27. Hundling drained another 3 to put the Rockets up 42-30, then Delaney Schurke made it 44-30. A Panther 8-0 run made the game close with over 3:00 left but Gabby Hundling gave Ar-We-Va momentum back with another 3, followed by a bucket from Makayla Schrad and free throws down the stretch from Delaney Schurke who scored the final basket of the game, giving Ar-We-Va a 54-41 win. The Rockets closed the game on a 10-5 run.
Gabby Hundling had a team high 25-points with 4-3’s. She added 5 steals and 3 assists. Delaney Schurke finished with 18-points along with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Amber Ragaller added 6-points and 3 steals, Azaya Martinez had a team high 4 assists.
The Rockets improved to 3-14 and will head to West Harrison on Monday.

A dominant defensive 3rd quarter helped the Raiders build a 10-point lead as they hung on down the stretch to earn a tough win on the road. The Raiders led most of the 1st half, edging in front 26-22 at half. The defense clamped down in the 3rd quarter, holding the Titans to 6-points. The Titans made a run in the 4th quarter, putting 21-points on the board, their biggest offensive quarter of the game. The Raiders also had their best offensive production of the game in the 4th, scoring 16-points to win by 5. The Raiders shots 36.4% from the field, doing a nice job sharing the ball with 13 assists on 20 made baskets. They controlled the boards with 31 rebounds and finished with 8 steals. East Sac limited their own turnovers with 12.
Addisen Ehler and Kendall Quirk both had double-doubles with the Raiders having four girls score in double figures. Ehler had 11-points and a team high 13 rebounds as Quirk scored 11-points along with grabbing 10 rebounds. Sarah Bontrager had a team high 13-points and Makenna Steiger added 11-points. Jen Aschinger had strong game on both ends with 8-points and 4 steals.
The win moves the Raiders to 7-11 overall and 4-7 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They travel to Pocahontas Area on Tuesday.

Glidden Ralston battled back in the 2nd half after dealing with injuries but fell just short as they fell on the road. Ogden pulled away in the 2nd quarter as Glidden Ralston lost their top two scorers for several minutes each due to injuries. They were down 15-10 at the end of the 1st quarter but gave up 22-points in the 2nd quarter and trailed 37-20 at half. The defense locked in during the 2nd half with Janssen and Wenck returning. They held the Bulldogs to 4-points in the 3rd, setting up a valiant rally in the 4th. The Wildcats began clicking in the 4th quarter, scoring 23-points, giving themselves a chance. The Bulldogs made enough plays down the stretch to hold on.
Tiela Janssen led the Wildcats with 19-points with Allison Snyder adding 9-points and Kassidy Wenck finishing with 9-points. Jaelyn Subbert came off the bench for 5-points and Brileigh Bock added 5-points.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 4-11 overall. They head to West Central Valley on Monday.
