The Kuemper Knights winning streak comes to an end Friday night with a loss on the road to Lewis Central. The Knights struggled to shoot against Lewis Central, only hitting five threes. In the first quarter, Kuemper was outscored 22-13. The Knights cut into the Lewis Central lead in the second quarter. Kuemper would be down 30-22 at the half. Offensively, the second half was better for Kuemper. The Knights were outscored 17-16 in the third quarter and trailed 47-38 going to the fourth. Kuemper put up 17 points in the fourth quarter but would go on to lose 70-55.
The Knights leading scorer was Michael Kasperbauer with 16 points. Carter Putney recorded 11 points for Kuemper. Tregan Beiter chipped in nine points for the Knights. Putney and Carson Kanne recorded a team-high six rebounds. The Knights shot 5-18 from the three-point line as a team.
With the loss, Kuemper falls to 14-2 on the season and 7-1 in the Hawkeye Ten. The Knights are back in action on Thursday against Harlan.

The Carroll Tigers dropped their third straight game despite having a lead going to the fourth quarter. Carroll got off to a slow start and found themselves down ten going to the second quarter at 21-11. Carroll got off to a better start in the second quarter but still trailed at the half 31-29. In the third quarter, Carroll’s defense stepped up, only holding Ballard to seven points. The Tigers took a six-point lead in the fourth quarter at 44-36. Turnovers pilled up as the game went for the Tigers in the fourth quarter. Carroll was outscored in the fourth quarter and would go on to lose 63-56.
Evan Hammer recorded a team-high 20 points. Hammer also pulled down a team-high 17 rebounds for the Tigers. Jarad Mohr recorded 14 points for Carroll. Mohr also recorded eight rebounds. Caden Lengeling was the Tigers’ third player in double figures with 11 points. As a team, the Tigers pulled down 42 rebounds.
With the loss, Carroll drops to 8-5 and 5-4 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers are back in action on Monday against ADM.

East Sac County picked up a big win at home over Sioux Central Friday night. The Raiders started the game hot as they jumped out to a quick 11-0 lead. Sioux Central closed the quarter out on a 10-7 run. ESC would hold a 18-10 lead going to the second quarter. The Raiders were balanced on the offensive end against Sioux Central. East Sac County had four players in double figures. ESC outscored Sioux Central by six points in the second quarter and took a 34-20 lead going into the locker room. The best offensive quarter for ESC was the third. They outscored Sioux Central by 11 points. Sam Julin, in the second half, knocked down four threes. The Raiders would take a 58-33 lead going to the fourth quarter. Both teams scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, and ESC would go on to win 71-46.
East Sac County had four different players in double figures. Ryan Clair was the Raiders leading scorer with 22 points. Sam Julin chipped in 15 points. All of Julin’s points came from the three-point line. Caleb Eichorn recorded 13 points. Eichorn started the game hot, with 11 of his 13 points coming in the first half. Karter Ludwig was the last Raiders player in double digits with 10 points. Clair pulled down a team-high ten rebounds. Luke Wright was second on the team in rebounds with six. As a team, the Raiders shot 52 percent from the field.
With the win, East Sac County improves to 12-3 and 8-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders are back in action on Saturday against GTRA.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats got back in the winning column with a 20-point win at home against Boyer Valley. Boyer Valley opened the game by hitting two early threes and took a 6-2 lead over the Wildcats. Glidden-Ralston then went on a 14-0 run to take a ten-point lead at 16-6. Emmett Snyder sparked the run for the Wildcats as he recorded 12 points in the first half. The Wildcats would take a 22-11 lead after the first quarter. Glidden-Ralston would extend their lead at the half to 34-22. Coming out of the locker room, Glidden-Ralston was able to push the pass and get out and run in transition as they built their lead to 48-35 going to the fourth quarter. The Wildcats blew the game open in the fourth with great defensive play and went on to win 68-48.
Charles Schon was the team’s leading scorer with 18 points. The Wildcats had four players in double figures. Jonathan Bergmeier recorded 16 points for the Wildcats. Emmett Snyder and Colby Wallace each recorded 12 points for Glidden-Ralston. Wallace pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
With the win, Glidden-Ralston improves to 6-8 and 5-7 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday at Ogden.

South Central Calhoun continued their hot streak, picking up a big win in the Twin Lakes Conference race. The Titans defense was strong all game, holding the Mustangs to less than 15-points in all four quarters, wearing them down to blow the game open in the 4th quarter. They created 18 steals, allowing them to get extra possessions for an offense that is clicking. South Central Calhoun shot 48.1% from the field and 47.6% from deep. The Titans led 22-11 at the end of the 1st quarter, extending the lead to 38-23 at half.
Four players scored in double figures with Gavin Batta leading the way with 21-points while dishing out 4 assists. Keegan Soard added another double-double with 15-points and 13 rebounds. Cole Higgins finished with 12-points and 4 steals and Andrew Anderson had 11-points with 9 steals.
They improved to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They have won 12 straight and will head to Humboldt on Monday.

Paton Churdan’s leading scorer was Cayden Stream, who scored 12 points. The loss drops Paton Churdan to 1-15 on the season and 1-8 in the Rolling Valley. Audubon found themselves down 65-41 at the end of the third quarter. The Wheelers went scoreless the rest of the game and would go on to lose 80-41. The Wheeler’s leading scorer was Edward Miller, who scored 19 points. Carson Wessel was the team’s second-leading scorer with six points. Treynor built an early lead they wouldn’t relinquish as they pulled away late in each quarter. The Cardinals led 15-3 early but IKM-Manning fought back to 20-10 before Treynor closed the quarter on a 7-0 run. The Wolves held them to 3-points late in the 2nd quarter but Treynor went on a 8-0 run to end the half, building a 38-14 lead at half. IKM-Manning cut the deficit to 44-23 late in the 3rd quarter but the Cardinals put the game away, scoring the final 10-points in the 3rd quarter.
Ross Kusel and Lane Sams led the Wolves with 11-points each. Ben Ramsey and Miles Nuzback both had 5 rebounds and Justin Segebart and Ross Kusel both made a pair of steals.
IKM-Manning falls to 7-8 overall and 5-7 in the Western Iowa Conference. They host Riverside on Monday.
