Wyatt Ragaller stepped to the free throw line with no time left on the clock and sank the second of two free throws to end the game, giving Ar-We-Va a come from behind win over Coon Rapids Bayard. The Crusaders led by 6, 59-53 with 1:32 left in the game, but turned the ball over twice, missed a pair of free throws and missed a wing jumper on their final 4 possessions, opening the door for the Rockets to rally. Wyatt Ragaller made a steal and a layup to ignite the rally. Then hit a pair of free throws to tie the game after Emmett Neumann scored inside to cut the lead to 2. Coon Rapids Bayard called a timeout and set up a play in the final seconds and got a good look. The ball bounced off the rim and Kolby Culbertson tipped it in before the buzzer but was called for a foul. After a discussion by the officials, Wyatt Ragaller was sent to the free throw line for 2 shots as the Crusaders were over the five foul limit. Ragaller missed the first free throw but sank the second to end the game.

Ar-We-Va came out hot in the 1st quarter, building a 18-11 lead at the end of the quarter. The Crusaders responded in the 2nd quarter, opening it with a 13-0 run, taking control of the game. They outscored the Rockets 25-9 and led 36-27 at half. A couple late buckets by Ar-We-Va gave them some momentum heading into the locker room. They used that to rally in the 3rd, taking the lead back at 42-41 but Coon Rapids Bayard led 45-44 after three quarters. The Crusaders appeared to be separating themselves late. They led 59-53 with the ball and a chance to make it a three possession game. That is when Wyatt Ragaller took over for Ar-We-Va leading their comeback.

Wyatt Ragaller and Blayne Smith paced Ar-We-Va on offense with both scoring 16-points. Ragaller added 6 assists while Smith was all over the floor with 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks. Wade Ragaller made a clutch late three, finishing with 12-points while Emmett Neumann had 10-points and 7 rebounds. Harley Molina had 6-points and 5 rebounds.

Cal Heydon finished with 20-points for Coon Rapids Bayard along with 8 rebounds. They shot 16-26 from the free throw line as a team. Caden Oswald was able to attack the lane, finishing with 13-points and 5 assists while Parker Hays was big on offense in the 1st half, adding 10-pionts and 2 steals. Cade Behrens had 11 rebounds and Kolby Culbertson had 9-points and 6 rebounds.

The Rockets improved to 9-5 overall and 6-5 in the Rolling Valley. They host Woodbine on Friday. Head Coach Matt Wilken of Ar-We-Va earned his 100th career win.  Coon Rapids Bayard drops to 14-3 overall and 11-2 in the RVC and will host Woodbine with first place in the league on the line Tuesday.

Dane Pedersen scored a big basket late and Bryce Stephenson took a pair of charges as Paton Churdan earned their first win of the season, holding on for a 64-62 win. The Rockets played well all game, creating turnovers and having their best shooting game of the season. They scored in double figures in all four quarters, taking a 17-15 lead at the end of the 1st quarter before extending the lead with a big 2nd quarter. The Rockets dominated the Bulldogs in the 2nd quarter, going up 41-28 at half. Boyer Valley made a charge in the 2nd half but Paton Churdan clung to a 52-50 lead heading to the final stanza.

Trevon Keeley had a team high 21-points with Cayden Stream adding 15-points and Hunter Saffel finished with 9-points.

The win the Rockets to 1-14 overall and 1-8 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host CAM on Friday.
