The Carroll Tigers jumped out to an early lead and led at the half but fell to Winterset at home Tuesday night. Carroll jumped out to a 17-7 lead going to the second quarter. In the second quarter, Winterset started fast as they tied the game at 17-17. The Tigers would lead 30-26 at the half. Winterset went on a run to start the third quarter and took the lead. Carroll was outscored 21-15 in the third quarter and trailed 47-45 going to the fourth. Carroll was down three with seconds left in the game but missed a game-tying three and would go on to lose 63-58.
Evan Hammer was the Tigers leading scorer with 22 points. Payton Wardell was excellent on the offensive glass for Carroll. Wardell chipped in 11 points for the Tigers and a team-high seven rebounds. Caden Lengeling and Jared Mohr each recorded eight points.
With the loss, Carroll falls to 8-4 on the season and 5-3 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers are back in action on Friday against Ballard.

The East Sac County Raiders erased a third quarter deficit to beat Manson NW Webster Tuesday night. ESC shot the ball well against the Cougars. Both teams’ offensives got going in the first quarter as the game was tied at 21 going into the second quarter. Manson NW Webster took a three-point lead going into the half at 36-33. East Sac County cut into the Cougars lead in the third quarter but trailed 51-50 going to the fourth. The fourth quarter was the Raider’s highest-scoring quarter. ESC outscored Manson NW Webster by ten 25-15. The Raiders would go on to win 75-66.
Caleb Eichorn was the Raider’s leading scorer. Eichorn recorded 25 points for ESC. Ryan Clair recorded another double-double for East Sac County with 19 points and a team-high 13 rebounds. Luke Wright chipped in 13 points for ESC. Sam Julin was the fourth Raider in double figures with 12 points. As a team, ESC recorded 32 rebounds. The Raiders also shot 55 percent from the field and knocked down seven threes.
With the win, ESC improves to 11-3 on the season and 7-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders are back in action on Friday at home against Sioux Central.

The South Central Calhoun Titans picked up a double-digit road win over West Bend-Mallard. SCC got their offense going in the first quarter, scoring 26 points. The Titans would take a 26-5 lead going to the second quarter. Both teams scored 13 points in the second quarter, and SCC took a 39-18 lead at the half. South Central Calhoun extended their lead in the third quarter to 56-31. The Titans would go on to win 58-40.
The Titans shot the ball well, knocking down 11 threes. Gavin Batta was SCC’s leading scorer with 29 points. Cole Higgins was the Titan’s second-leading scorer with 15 points. Keegan Soard chipped in eight points and pulled down 14 rebounds. As a team, SCC shot 50 percent from the field and 52 percent from behind the three-point line.
With the win, SCC has won their 11th straight game and improved their record to 11-3 and 7-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Titans are back in action on Friday against Newell-Fonda.

Cal Heydon scored a bucket and hit a free throw with 0:33 left and Cade Behrens hit a pair of free throws as Coon Rapids Bayard earned a big conference win over Exira-EHK. The win keeps them in 1st place in the Rolling Valley Conference, allowing them to go 2-0 against the Spartans this season. The Crusaders started quickly, building a 21-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and maintaining the lead at half. They extended the lead in the 3rd before holding off a rally by the Spartans, who tied the game late. They hit clutch free throws, going 12-15 for the game, supplementing a solid night offensively. The Crusaders hit 48.7% from the field but only made 5-13 from deep.
Cal Heydon had another strong game with 21-points along with 5 rebounds while Cade Behrens added 12-points and a team high 7 rebounds. Caden Oswald had a strong overall game with 9-points with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
The Crusaders moved to 14-2 overall with the win, their 6th in a row and 11-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Ar-We-Va on Thursday.

Glidden Ralston battled back after a hot shooting start by Woodbine as Jonathan Bergmeier knocked in a couple buckets and the Wildcats were able to get to the line, pulling within 18-11. The Tigers extended the lead to 17-points early in the 2nd quarter but Glidden Ralston fought back with Emmett Snyder leading the charge. They pulled within 31-19 at half. The game slipped away in the 3rd quarter with Woodbine extending their lead, outscoring the Wildcats 19-6 in the 3rd quarter. The defense played well early in the 3rd but they weren’t able to capitalize on the offensive end. Woodbine remained hot in the final stanza, pulling away for the win.
Jonathan Bergmeier with 13-points and Emmett Snyder with 11-points finished in double figures.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 4-9 as they prepare to host Boyer Valley on Friday.

Audubon did a nice job defensively through three quarters against Riverside but the Bulldogs erupted for 27-points in the f4th quarter to pull away for the win. The defense held Riverside to 32.7% from the field but forced only three turnovers and Riverside was able to take advantage of extra possessions. The Wheelers were down 13-8 at the end of the 1st quarter but rallied to lead 19-18 at half. Their lead grew to 2 heading into the 4th quarter, but they were outscored 27-9.
Edward Miller paced a balanced offensive attack with 12-points with Austin Christensen adding 9-points and Carson Wessel had 8-points.
The loss drops the Wheelers to 5-10 overall and 4-8 in the Western Iowa Conference. They host Underwood on Friday.
