The Kuemper Knights continued their excellent season as they won their twelfth straight game with a home victory over Creston. The first quarter was back and forth as Creston built a 5-0 lead on the Knights early. Kuemper came back and took an 8-7 lead. Hans Kraus came into the game off the bench for Kuemper and sparked the offense as the Knights would take a 21-18 lead going to the second quarter. Kuemper did not shoot the three-ball great and was attacking the basket on the offensive end, and that helped them build an 11-point lead at the half, 47-36.
Kuemper extended their lead in the third quarter. Brock Badding hit three-threes in the quarter as the Knights would lead 73-55 going to the fourth quarter. Kuemper scored 18 points in the fourth quarter and went on to win 91-65.
The Knights had four players in double figures, led by Brock Badding, who had 22 points. Badding hit five threes for Kuemper. Michael Kasperbauer was the Knights second leading scorer with 17 points. Hans Kraus was excellent off the bench for Kuemper with 14 points. Carson Kanne chipped in 12 points for the Knights. Kanne also recorded a team-high five assists. Kuemper, as a team, shared the basketball as they recorded 21 assists.
With the win, Kuemper improved to 12-1 and 6-0 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. The Knights are back in action on Saturday against Grandview Christian.

The East Sac Country Raiders fell short on the road to a good Alta-Aurelia team Friday night. The first quarter was back and forth as the Raiders were down by one 16-15. Alta-Aurelia opened the game up in the second quarter. The Warriors extended their lead 33-26 going into the locker room. In the third quarter, the Raiders had their best offensive output as they outscored Alta-Aurelia 18-16. ESC cut into the Warrior lead 49-44 going to the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter was back and forth, but ESC would lose 63-57.
Ryan Clair recorded a double-double for the Raiders. Clair scored a team-high 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. The Raiders struggled to shoot for the outside. Sam Julin chipped in 13 points for ESC. Caleb Eichorn was the third Raider in double figures with 12 points. ESC shot 25 percent from the three-point line, hitting six on the night.
With the loss, ESC falls to 9-3 on the season and 5-2 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders are back in action on Monday against Storm Lake St. Mary’s.

The Coon Rapids- Bayard Crusaders shot the ball well in a win on the road at Paton Churdan. The Crusaders opened up the game, outscoring the Rockets 30-7 in the first quarter. CRB has played great defense all season, and it continued Friday night. The Crusaders took a 51-13 lead going into the locker room. Paton Churdan’s defense picked up in the second half. CRB outscored the Rockets 16-5 in the third quarter. The Crusaders would go on to win 78-24.
CRB shot over 5 percent from the field and 50 percent from three. Cade Behrens scored a team-high 25 points for the Crusaders. Behrens hit seven of the team’s eight threes. Gavin Heiderscheit recorded 16 points off the bench for the Crusaders. Cal Heydon was the third CRB player in double figures with 13 points. Heydon also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. As a team, the Crusaders pulled down 32 rebounds.
Trevon Keely was the Rockets leading scorer with ten points. Bryce Stephenson was Paton Churdan’s second-leading scorer with eight points. Phoenix Hartman chipped in six points for the Rockets.
The win improves CRB’s record to 11-2 and 9-1 in the Rolling Valley Conference. The loss drops Paton Churdan to 0-12 and 0-7 in the Rolling Valley. The Crusaders are back in action on Monday against Ogden. The Rockets take on West Harrison on Tuesday.

Ar-We-Va let one slip away on the road on Friday, leading into the 3rd quarter by as many as 7-points but closing the quarter with 2-points over the final 5:00 and trailed 44-35 heading to the 4th quarter. They battled back in the 4th quarter, cutting the deficit to 2-points with 0:06 left but the Spartans sealed the game with a pair of free throws. The Rockets built a 14-10 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and held a 28-26 lead at half. The lead grew to 7-points early in the 3rd before the scoring drought.
Ar-We-Va had four players in double figures with another player just shy. Wyatt Ragaller had a team high 17-points along with 6 steals. Emmett Neumann, Harley Molina and Blayne Smith all had 11-points with Neumann pulling down 7 rebounds and Smith had 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Wade Ragaller had 8-points and 7 rebounds.
The loss moves Ar-We-Va to 8-5 overall and 5-5 in the Rolling Valley Conference, snapping their 5 game winning streak. The Rockets host Coon Rapids Bayard on Thursday.

South Central Calhoun took control in the 4th quarter, pulling away for their ninth straight win. The offense struggled for three quarters, scoring 27-points while shooting around 30% from the floor. The defense kept them in the lead, holding Sioux Central to 17-points heading into the 4th quarter and 22.9% from the field for the game. The Rebels were 2-23 from three while South Central Calhoun knocked down 7-24 from deep. The Titans controlled the boards, winning the rebounding battle 36-27. They forced the Rebels into 11 turnovers while turning it over only 3 times themselves. South Central Calhoun caught fire in the final stanza, scoring 23-points to win going away.
Gavin Batta had a team high 14-points to go with 6 rebounds. Keegan Soard had a team high 12 rebounds and scored 6-points, Bryce Berquist had 8-points, 5 rebounds. Cole Higgins finished with 7-points and 6 rebounds while Andrew Anderson dished out 5 assists.
The Titans sit 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They head to West Bend Mallard on Tuesday.

Audubon fell down early but went off in the 2nd half, scoring 42-points with 24 of those in the 4th quarter as they earned their fifth win of the season. The Wheelers were down 17-7 at the end of the 1st quarter but found a rhythm in the 2nd quarter on offense outscoring the Vikings by 1-point but gaining some traction. Austin Christensen and Edward Miller took over inside while Carson Wessel and Aaron Olsen hurt AHSTW from the perimeter. A 18-8 3rd quarter gave the Wheelers a 41-40 lead heading into the final stanza. They poured it on in the 4th quarter to win going away.
Austin Christensen had a team high 20-points with Edward Miller adding 17-points, Carson Wessel 13-points and Aason Olsen 11-points.
The Wheelers improved to 5-8 overall and 4-6 in the Western Iowa Conference. They host Missouri Valley on KKRL on Monday.

The IKM-Manning Wolves picked up a win on the road against Tri-Center in a close contest. The Wolves started the game shooting very well as they jumped out to a 14-7 lead. IKM-Manning would lead 22-16 going to the second quarter. Tri-Center kept chipping at the lead, but IKM-Manning would hold a 41-36 at the half. Coming out of the locker room, Tri-Center would take a 47-44 lead, but IKM-Manning came storming back to lead 51-49 going to the fourth. The game would be tied at 51 and 53 in the fourth. Tri-Center took a 55-53 lead with just over four minutes left. IKM-Manning regained the lead at 60-55 and never let it go. The Wolves would hit some big free throws down the stretch and go on to win 66-60 over Tri-Center.
Ben Ramsey scored a team-high 19 points for IKM-Manning. Ramsey was one of four Wolves players in double figures. Ross Kusel and Justin Segebart each had 12 points. Miles Nuzback chipped in ten for IKM-Manning. Brock Kusel was great, defensively pulling down a team-high nine rebounds. Nuzback also recorded seven rebounds.
With the win, IKM-Manning improves to 7-6 on the season and 5-5 in conference play. The Wolves are back in action on Monday at Underwood.
