The Kuemper Knights picked up a home win over Creston Friday night. The first half was back and forth as both teams struggled with turnovers. Kuemper struggled with Creston’s zone defense in the first half. The game was tied at 12-12 at the end of the first quarter. Kuemper did an excellent job on the offensive glass in the first half and took a one-point lead 25-24 at the half.

The second half was all Kuemper as they got the offense going. The Knights’ defense was just as impressive in the second half. The Kuemper defense held Creston to ten points in the second half, and only two made field goals from the floor. Kaylie Simons was big in the third quarter for Kuemper as she recorded nine points, all coming from the three-point line. The Knights would take a 42-29 lead going to the fourth quarter. Kuemper continued their great defense in the fourth quarter as they went on to win 59-34. 

Kaylie Simons finished with a team-high 15 points, all coming from behind the three-point line. Frannie Glynn was excellent rebounding for the Knights as she recorded a team-high 13 rebounds. Glynn also chipped in 14 points. Lauren Boell was the third Knight in double figures with 12 points. Elsa Tiefenthaler recorded a team-high seven assists. 

With the win, Kuemper improves to 5-8 and 3-3 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. The Knights are back in action on Monday against Glenwood.

Coon Rapids Bayard won their fourth in a row, jumping out quickly on the road, leading 21-6 after the 1st quarter and 40-10 at half. The Rockets loss is their 12th this season. Malia Clayburg led three Crusaders in double figures with 17-points to go with 7 steals. Aubrey Hofbauer scored 12-points on her birthday and Breeley Clayburg finished with 11-points and 6 rebounds. The Crusaders had 20 steals with eight different players making at least 1 steal. Anna Hart added 7 assists and 5 steals while Maddy Mason pulled down 6 rebounds and Lydia Hofbauer had 7 assists. Alivya Smith and Ava Minnehan each had 4-points for Paton Churdan while Hailey Hoyle and Ella Tasler both had 2-points. 

The Crusaders improved to 9-2 overall and 8-2 in the Rolling Valley. Paton Churdan falls to 0-12 overall and 0-8 in the Rolling Valley. Coon Rapids Bayard hosts CAM on Saturday while Paton Churdan goes to West Harrison on Tuesday.

Addisen Ehler dominated early and the Raiders withstood a furious rally from Alta-Aurelia, hitting free throws down the stretch with Kendall Quirk coming up big on the glass and hitting three straight free throws to seal a 6-point win. Ehler scored the first-nine-points for the Raiders, finishing with 13 of their 15-points in the 1st quarter as they led 15-8. The lead grew to 11 at half but Alta-Aurelia rallied in the 3rd quarter, pulling within 34-30 but the Raiders settled back in and led 42-34 heading to the 4th quarter. The Warriors sent East Sac to the free throw line down the stretch, trying to extend the game and whittle their way back into the game but the Raiders went 13-20 from the line for the game but hit critical free throws down the stretch. 

Addisen Ehler was outstanding, leading three girls in double figures. Ehler had 21-points along with 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Kendall Quirk added 10-points to go with 16 rebounds while Sarah Bontrager added 14-points with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Jen Aschinger had 5 assists and 4 steals and Chloe Bieret finished with 4 steals. 

The win improves the Raiders to 5-8 overall and 4-4 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They host MVAOCOU on Saturday.

The Wolves played well on the road Friday, leading at halftime and trailing by only 4 entering the 4th quarter. The defense was strong, holding Tri Center to 4-points in the 2nd quarter and 49-points for the game. The offense showed more signs with two players in double figures and balanced scoring behind them. The Wolves trailed 14-9 at the end of the 1st quarter but led 22-18 at half. The Trojans took the lead back in the 3rd and stretched it in the 4th quarter. 

Anna Stangl paced the offense again with 13-points along with 9 rebounds. Taylor Beckendorf almost had a double-double with 10-points and 8 rebounds. Abby Neiheisel blocked 4 shots while Emma Reginato and Laynie Gawley both scored 5-points. 

The loss drops the Wolves to 1-12 overall and 1-8 in the Western Iowa Conference. They take on Underwood at Iowa Western Community College on Monday.

Ar-We-Va struggled on the road on Friday with turnovers and missed shots, falling to the Spartans 62-4. They trailed 24-1 at the end of the 1st quarter and were down 40-3 at half. They were held scoreless in the 3rd quarter. Karime Sanchez led them with 2-points while Sanchez, Gabby Hundling, Delaney Schurke and Azaya Martinez all had 2 rebounds. Gaby Hundling added a pair of blocked shots. 

Ar-We-Va falls to 2-11 overall 2-8 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host IKM-Manning on Tuesday on KKRL.

South Central Calhoun struggled with the Rebels pressure defense, turning the ball over 17 times, with most of those coming in the 1st quarter as Sioux Central built a 31-7 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The Titans settled in better in the 2nd quarter, helping them get some looks on the offensive end. They also kept Sioux Central from getting as many good looks from deep, holding them to 20-points in the 2nd quarter but still found themselves down 51-16 at half. 

Mia Babcock paced the Titans offense with 8-points along with 4 rebounds. Blair Schleisman had 7-points while Brenna McAlister and Bre Patterson both had 2 steals. Sadie Wheelock had a pair of blocked shots. 

The loss drops the Titans to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in the Twin Lakes Conference. They head to West Bend Mallard on Tuesday.
