Carroll was really strong on defense, getting North Polk out of rhythm all game, limiting the Comets from beyond the arc. The Tigers defense limited North Polk’s top two scorers, holding them to a combined 8-points, 18-points below their season average. North Polk hit 15-3’s in their first meeting with Carroll, but was held to 2 on Tuesday. They only scored in double figures in one quarter. Carroll was able to get the offense going early with Payton Wardell and Evan Hammer combining for 15-points. They led 16-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, stretching it to 29-18 at half. The Tigers did a nice jog coming out of the locker room to start the 2nd half, building a 18-point lead heading into the 4th quarter.
Evan Hammer was terrific again with 15-points and 10 rebounds while dishing out 8 assists. Payton Wardell was strong on both ends with 12-points and 6 rebounds. Jared Mohr and Caden Lengeling both scored 7-points.
The Tigers improved to 8-2 overall and 6-2 in the Raccoon River Conference, winning their 3rd straight. Carroll plays Dallas Center-Grimes on Saturday at 3:00 on KIKD 106.7 in the Gilbert Showcase.

Kuemper did what they have done for the last 11 games, playing great defense, starting quick and dominating another opponent with a strong all-around offense. The Knights shot 55.7% from the field, making 34 shots with 22 assists. They were 11-24 from 3 with seven players making at least one-three. When not shooting from deep, Kuemper hit 23-37 shots inside the arc, getting into the lane and attacking the rim. The defense forced 20 steals while the Knights had only 12 turnovers. Kuemper led 22-11 at the end of the 1st quarter and were up 41-22 at half. They blew the game completely open in the 3rd, outscoring the Cardinals 24-9.
Tregan Beiter led four players in double figures with 16-points, Brock Badding added 14-points, Hans Kraus had 11-points and Carter Putney had 10-points. Putney had a team high 6 rebounds while Carson Kanne finished with 8 assists. Putney led the team with 4 steals and Kanne added 3 steals.
The Knights won their 11th straight, improving to 11-1. They host Creston on Friday.

Ar-We-Va won their fifth straight, using a strong defensive effort and a big 3rd quarter to send Paton Churdan to their twelve straight loss to start the season. Blayne Smith and Wyatt Ragaller were outstanding on defense, holding Trevon Keely to 5-points, 12-points below his season average. They forced others to step up for Paton Churdan. Kinnick Steiml hit 3-3’s and Phoenix Hartman added 10-points for Paton Churdan but it wouldn’t be enough. Ar-We-Va never trailed and were tied just once at 2-2 before edging away. They led 11-6 at the end of the 1st quarter, using three’s from Wade and Wyatt Ragaller. Wade hit a pair of threes in the 2nd quarter, helping Ar-We-Va build a 24-9 lead. Paton Churdan responded with a 6-1 run to close out the half.
Ar-We-Va established Emmett Neumann to start the 3rd, using that to score inside or have him kick to shooters. Their ball movement was better in the 3rd, out scoring Paton Churdan 24-11 to lead 49-26 to start the 4th quarter. The defense which had been good all game, held Paton Churdan to a late three for their only points in the 4th quarter.
Emmett Neumann led Ar-We-Va with 20-points and 10 rebounds. Tyson Von Glan had a team high 11 rebounds with Wyatt Ragaller adding 13-points and 8 rebounds and Blayne Smith finishing with 8-pionts, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Wade Ragaller had 11-points with 3-3’s.
Phoenix Hartman had 10-points with 5 rebounds for Paton Churdan. Kinnick Steimel added 9-points and had a strong defensive 1st half. Trevon Keely added 5-points and 4 rebounds.
Ar-We-Va moves to 8-4 overall and 5-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Exira-EHK on Friday. Paton Churdan falls to 0-12 overall and 0-7 in the Rolling Valley. They host Glidden Ralston on Thursday.

East Sac bounced back after a slow offensive start, hurting themselves with turnovers and having passed tipped. They hit just one shot in their offensive set in the 1st quarter. They used offensive rebounds and broken plays to lead 11-5 at the end of the 1st quarter. Karter Ludwig hit a pair of threes early in the 2nd quarter along with the offense getting into the lane for midrange jumpers. Though the offense struggled early the defense was solid in the 1st half, holding West Bend Mallard to 11-points. Sam Julin took over in the 3rd quarter, hitting 7-3’s in the 2nd half. The defense was focused on the Raiders inside game and Julin did a nice job finding soft spots in the defense and knocked down the shots. The Raiders led 31-11 at half and built the lead to 54-20 going to the 4th quarter.
Sam Julin led the Raiders with 21-points along with having 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Ryan Clair had 12-points and 7 rebounds, Karter Ludwig had 9 points, Luke Wright 11-points and 7 rebounds and Jackson Rubendall scored 8-points.
The Raiders improved to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference. The Raiders host MVAOCOU on Thursday.

South Central Calhoun remained hot, winning their 8th straight with a convincing home win over Pocahontas Area. The Titans shot the ball well, hitting 30-55 shots overall and were 10-22 from deep. The defense was strong, holding Pocahontas Area to 18-57 from the field and 4-22 from three. They started strong, leading 21-11 at the end of the 1st quarter, then put the game away in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Indians 29-9 to lead 50-20 at half.
Gavin Batta hit 5-9 from deep, finishing with 30-points with 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Cole Higgins added 16-points and 4 assists while Keegan Soard dominated inside with 15-points to go with 13 rebounds. Andrew Anderson had a team high 6 assists.

Coon Rapids Bayard found a way to win on a night the offense wasn’t at its best. They shot 42% from the field, knocking down 7-23 from three. They used a big 2nd quarter to build a 27-11 lead at half. West Harrison tried to rally in the final stanza but the Crusaders had built a big enough lead. The defense held West Harrison to 16-57 from the field and 3-16 from deep. The Hawkeyes forced Coon Rapids Bayard into 17 turnovers but the Crusaders countered with 18 turnovers by the Hawkeyes offense.
Caden Oswald led the Crusaders with 13-points and 5 assists, Gavin Heiderscheit had 12-points going 6-8 from the field while Cade Behrens had 9-points. Cal Heydon had 10 rebounds and 6 assists, Ty Heydon had 7-points and Kolby Culbertson had 6-points. Parker Hays added 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Glidden Ralston was rusty at the start, having not played in 11 days while Exira-EHK shot it well early, building an 10-3 lead. The Wildcats fought back with threes from Jonathan Bergmeier and Colby Wallace. That opened things up inside for Charles Schon, who knocked down a few jump shots, pulling within 18-13 at the end of the 1st quarter. Jonathan Bergmeir scored 10-points in the 2nd quarter, helping the Wildcats pull within 26-23 but Exira-EHK closed the 1st half on a 13-1 run to lead 39-24. The 2nd half was tough, though Glidden Ralston got some good looks in the 3rd and 4th quarters, but they didn’t shoot it well with Emmett Snyder scoring all 5 of their points in the 3rd quarter, putting them down 53-29.
Jonathan Bergmeier paced the Wildcats with 16-points with Emmett Snyder scoring 5-points and Colby Wallace and Charles Schon both having 4-points.

IKM-Manning won for the fourth time in their last five games and third in a row, knocking off AHSTW on the road. They rallied from a slow start, trailing 9-8 at the end of the 1st quarter. Ben Ramsey got hot in the 2nd quarter, scoring 16 of the teams first 18-points, helping them take a 26-17 lead at half. The Wolves used a 11-1 run in the 2nd quarter, down 13-11 to get in front 22-14. AHSTW tried to fight back in the 3rd, but IKM-Manning went on a 17-1 run to put the game away and cruised to the win.
Ben Ramsey finished with a team high 23-pionts, leading three guys in double figures. Ross Kusel added 13-points and 5 rebounds along with 3 steals. Lane Sams had 10-points and 5 rebounds. Ben Langel scored 7-points and Miles Nuzback had 6-points and 3 assists.

A slow start cost the Wheelers on the road on Tuesday, trailing Treynor 25-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, then playing Treynor to a 51-39 game the rest of the game. The Wheelers dropped their third straight, falling to 4-8 overall and 3-6 in the Western Iowa Conference. Edward Miller led a balanced attack as the only player in double figures with 12-points. Carson Wessel added 9-points, Aaron Olsen had 8-points and Brody Schultes finished with 6-points.
The Wheelers head to Tri Center on Thursday.
