East Sac recovered after a slow 1st quarter to open a 29-18 lead at half on their way to a non-conference win at Greene County on Thursday. The Raiders struggled to make shots in the 1st quarter and turned the ball over, falling behind 11-9 heading into the 2nd quarter. The offense, which shot 58.8% from the field started connected in the 2nd quarter with Sam Julin heating up from outside and Ryan Clair and Luke Wright taking over inside. The Raiders used a 20-point run in the 2nd quarter to take control of the game. They blew the game open in the 3rd, thanks to a pair of 3’s from Sam Julin and a steal by Tony Clair, who fed Julin for a bucket. That flurry closed the final minute of the 3rd quarter, giving the Raiders a 51-32 lead at the end of the quarter. The Raiders had 21 assists on 30 made baskets.
East Sac had four players in double figures, led by Sam Julin with 19-points to go with 5 assists. Ryan Clair added 15-points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists while Luke Wright finished with 12-points and 12 rebounds. Tony Clair went off for 13-points while making a pair of steals. Tony Clair scored 11 of his points in the 2nd half. Caleb Eichorn had another solid game with 6-points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
The win improves East Sac to 8-2 overall. They are scheduled to host Storm Lake St Mary’s on Friday.
