Ross Kusel hit a top of the key three to give the Wolves the lead and they held on as Coon Rapids Bayard got a look at the buzzer. The game featured 13 lead changes and was tied 6 times with IKM-Manning largest lead being four late in the game. Coon Rapids Bayard jumped out early by five and led by nine in the 2nd quarter. Both teams went on runs and both teams took the other teams best shot, and responded with a counter punch of their own.
Cal Heydon and Caden Oswald put Coon Rapids Bayard up 5-0 to open the game but IKM-Manning responded with a 7-0 run with baskets from Ben Ramsey and Ross Kusel. Gavin Heiderscheit tied the game at 7 and Kolby Culbertson gave the Crusaders the lead back at 9-8. They were up 11-8 at the end of the 1st quarter and opened the 2nd quarter strong with Heiderscheit, Caden Oswald both scoring with Oswald hitting a three to make it 18-12. Ty Heydon added a three, forcing the Wolves into a timeout, down 21-12. The Wolves responded with Justin Segebart hitting a three and a bucket to trim the Crusaders lead to 21-17. A Cade Behrens three gave the Crusaders a 26-19 lead at half.
The Wolves jumped back into the game quickly in the 3rd quarter, forcing Coon Rapids Bayard to call a timeout less than a minute into the half. The Wolves pulled within 26-24, then tied it and took the lead with a basket and free throw from Justin Segebart that had a huge night. Cade Berhens got hot from three, hitting a pair to give Coon Rapids Bayard up 32-30 as the lead changed hands nine times in the 3rd quarter. Gavin Heiderscheit kept the Crusaders up 42-41 heading into the 4th quarter. Caden Oswald made it 44-41 and Cade Behrens extended it to 47-41. Justin Segebart responded again with a huge corner three, pulling the Wolves within 47-44. Segebart hit another big three, tying the game at 52. Kolby Culbertson hit a pair of free throws to keep the Crusaders up by two but Miles Nuzback tied it at 54 and Ben Ramsey gave then Wolves a 56-54 lead. Ross Kusel extended it to 58-54 but Cal Heydon scored five straight and Coon Rapids Bayard was up one with less than a minute to play. The Wolves got Ross Kusel a look from the top of the key on an assist from Justin Segebart and he hit a three to put them up 61-59. Coon Rapids Bayard got a baseline jumper the buzzer but it didn’t fall and IKM-Manning won by two.
Ross Kusel had a team high 23-points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals for IKM-Manning. Justin Segebart made big play after big play all game long for IKM-Manning, finishing with 14-points and 4 assists. Ben Ramsey added 18-points and 5 assists. Miles Nuzback had 6 rebounds.
Cal Heydon had a team high 22-points for Coon Rapids Bayard along with 17 rebounds and 5 assists. Caden Oswald added 10-points and Cade Behrens had 12-points and 5 rebounds. Gavin Heiderscheit had a solid game off the bench with 6-points and 8 rebounds.
The win moves IKM-Manning to 4-6 as they host Audubon on Friday. Coon Rapids Bayard falls to 8-2 and will travel to Glidden Ralston on Friday.

Paton Churdan nearly picked up their first win of the season, playing well in their opening game after the holiday break. The Rockets started well, leading 9-8 at the end of the 1st quarter as Trevor Keely and Phoenix Hartman were scoring well. They trailed 23-19 at half, then struggled coming out of the locker room to start the 2nd half. West Bend Mallard extended their lead to 36-26 at half. The offensive struggles in the 3rd drifted away in the 4th for the Rockets, outscoring West Bend Mallard but falling short in their comeback.
Phoenix Hartman paced the Rockets with 16-points, Trevor Keely added 13-points and Caden Stream finished with 7-points.
The loss drops Paton Churdan to 0-10 on the season as they prepare to head to Woodbine on Friday.
