It was a slow start offensively for both teams on Thursday as the Crusaders led IKM-Manning 9-0 at the end of the 1st quarter and 17-5 at half. They built an 11-0 lead before Anna Stangl got IKM-Manning on the board with 5:52 left in the 2nd quarter. The Crusaders turned it up a notch in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Wolves 17-4 to open up the lead. The Crusaders pressure defense created turnovers, allowing them to get some easy buckets but the Wolves forced the Crusaders to execute in the halfcourt a good portion of the game. IKM-Manning did a nice job defending against the Crusaders strength in the lane, double-teaming the Crusaders and making them work for everything they got.
Malia Clayburg put the Crusaders up with a quick bucket as they built a 11-0 lead, going up 9-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Breeley Clayburg put them up 4-0 and Anna Hart stretched it to 7-0 with Shelbi Wiskus making it 9-0 late in the 1st quarter. Malia Clayburg added another bucket to start the 2nd quarter, making it 11-0 before Anna Stangl hit a runner in the lane to get the Wolves on the board. Both teams hit a free throw before Breeley Clayburg added a bucket to make it 14-3. Laynie Gawley and Anna Stangl hit back-to-back free throws, pulling the Wolves within 14-5. An Anna Hart three gave the Crusaders a 17-5 lead at half.
Breeley Clayburg, Anna Hart and Malia Clayburg all scored early in the 3rd quarter as their defensive pressure, led by Hart took over the game. They extended their lead to 24-5 before Anna Stangl hit a three for IKM-Manning. The lead grew to 34-9 at the end of the 3rd quarter. McKenna Benton hit a pair of three’s in the 4th quarter for IKM-Manning but Coon Rapids Bayard maintained control of the game.
Malia Clayburg had a team high 13-points for Coon Rapids Bayard with Breeley Clayburg added 12-points and 7 rebounds. Anna Hart was outstanding for the Crusaders, finishing with 11-points and 11 steals. Lydia Hofbauer added 6 steals and Aubrey Hofbauer had 7 steals.
Anna Stangl led the Wolves with 7-points, McKenna Benton added 6-points and Abby Nieheisel was strong on the glass and on defense, finishing with 11 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Emma Reginato had 4 rebounds.
The Crusaders improved to 6-2 overall and will head to Glidden Ralston on Friday. IKM-Manning falls to 1-10 and will go to Underwood on Tuesday.

Paton Churdan fell at a strong West Bend Mallard club on Thursday, suffering their ninth loss of the season. Grace Cullum and Alivya Smith both had 4-points for the Rockets in the loss with Hailey Hoyle adding their other point. West Bend Mallard improved to 6-2 on the season, dropping Paton Churdan to 0-9. The Rockets head to 10th ranked Woodbine on Friday.
