The Carroll Tigers open the second half of their season with a home victory over Boone Tuesday night. Carroll started the game slowly as Boone jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead in the first quarter, forcing a Carroll time-out. After the time-out, the Tigers closed the first quarter on a 13-0 run to take a 15-6 leading to the second. Carroll extended their lead to 20-6 in the second quarter. The Tigers would take a 33-18 lead at the half. The Tigers played good defense all game but struggled to shoot the basketball. Boone got hot for behind the arc in the second half. Carroll worked the ball down low to Evan Hammer and Jared Mohr in the third quarter. The Tigers would take a 53-31 lead going to the fourth quarter. Carroll led most of the second half by 20 points, but Boone hit some threes late to cut into the lead. Carroll would go on to win 65-52.
Evan Hammer was Carroll’s leading scorer, as he recorded 21 points. Hammer also had a team-high 11 rebounds. Jared Mohr chipped in 12 points for the Tigers. Carroll went 2-20 for the three-point-line, and Stone Sibenaller hit both threes. Sibenaller and Payton Wardell each recorded nine points. Carter Essick and Noah Hinners played great off the bench for Carroll in the win.
With the win, Carroll improves to 6-2 on the season and 4-2 in Conference play. The Tigers are back in action on Friday against Carlisle.
