The Kuemper Knights fall on the road to a good Kingsley-Pierson team to close out their first half of the season Friday night. Elsa Tiefenthaler gave them an early lead with a 3 and Kuemper would race out to a 13-6 lead after a pair of buckets by Kaylie Simons, including a 3 that made it 13-6. Kuemper would struggle from the field most of the rest of the game, hitting 28.8% overall and going 6-20 from beyond the arc. The Knights held a 15-11 lead at the end of the 1st quarter but were outscored 11-1 over the first- four minutes of the 2nd quarter. The Panthers built a 26-20 lead at half.

Kingsley Pierson extended the lead to start the 2nd half but the Knights weren’t going to quit. Kaylie Simons stopped a 5-0 run with a bucket, making it 31-22. The Panthers edged away again, gong up by 14 but Elsa Tiefenthaler and Kaylie Simons pulled the Knights within 12. Kingsley Pierson answered the Knights run, getting up by 16, their largest lead of the game. Cierra Pudenz gave Kuemper some good minutes off the bench, scored late in the 3rd and Frannie Glynn, who battled foul trouble all game, made it 43-31 heading into the 4th. Kuemper came out in the 4th and got back-to-back 3’s from Elsa Teifenthaler, pulling them within 8 but Sydney Doeschot took control for Kingsley Pierson, pushing the lead back to 12.

Kuemper was led in scoring on the night by Elsa Tiefenthaler, who had 12 points along with 5 rebounds. Kaylie Simons chipped in 10 points for the Knights off the bench. Simons was aggressive on the board as well, pulling down four rebounds. Frannie Glynn recorded a team-high 10 rebounds and Lauren Boell added 8 rebounds.

With the loss, Kuemper falls to 3-6 on the season. The Knights are back in action on January 5th against Atlantic.
