Kuemper used a offensive spurt at the end of the 1st quarter and a great defensive ballgame to pull away from Greene County on Saturday afternoon, winning their third straight, improving to 3-3 on the season. The Knights pulled away late in the 1st quarter after the Rams had knocked down a couple of early 3’s. Kuemper was able to get to the free throw line and control the game inside, building a 16-6 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. They shut down the Rams offense the final few minutes of the 1st quarter, then allowed 1-point in the 2nd quarter while building a 37-7 lead at half. The Kuemper defense held the Rams to single digits in all four quarters while the offense shot 46% from the field. The Knights had 21 assists on 26 made baskets. Nine different girls scored in the game for Kuemper.
Lauren Boell paced the Knights, hitting 7-11 from the field, scoring 17-points. Elsa Tiefenthaler added 10-points with Frannie Glynn controlling the backboards with 9 rebounds. Kaylie Simons, Cierra Pudenz and Tiefenthaler all had 4 assists and Tiefenthaler added a team high 4 steals.
Kuemper hosts 6th ranked St Albert on Tuesday.
