Audubon had an outstanding defensive game on Thursday, forcing turnovers, allowing them to get out on the break and get easy baskets as they scored in double figures all four quarters. The Wheelers quickly built the lead getting layups to lead 21-11 at the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter was tighter as the Bulldogs didn’t struggle as much with the press but Audubon extended the lead to 37-24 at half. The Wheelers dominated the 2nd half, outscoring the Bulldogs 36-16.

The Wheelers had two players in double figures and early had five players reach it. Edward Miller paced the offense with 19-points with Aaron Olsen adding 16-points. Mason Steckler, Carson Wessel and Austin Christensen all finished with 8-points.

The Wheelers improved to 3-4 on the season and hop back into Western Iowa Conference action on Friday as they travel to unbeaten Underwood.

Ar-We-Va trailed most of the game but not when it mattered most, getting a great team effort with a number of players hitting big shots and free throws down the stretch as they rally for a 5-point road win. The Rockets took charge in the 4th quarter after trailing 50-44 heading into the final stanza. Wade and Wyatt Ragaller hit back-to-back 3’s tying the game at 57 and Blayne Smith knocked down big free throws to extend the lead to 5 late. Emmett Neumann had a big 2nd half, helping to keep the Rockets within striking distance. The Rockets did a nice job handing the Rebels pressure and switching defenses, getting big scoring quarters to close each half. Ar-We-Va was down 11-10 at the end of the 1st quarter and trailed 36-32 at half but scored 22-points in the 2nd quarter to stay close, then scored 18-points in the final stanza to complete the comeback.

Blayne Smith was huge, pacing four players in double figures with 20-points, along with 11 rebounds. Wade Ragaller had 14-points with 9 rebounds, Wyatt Ragaller added 13-points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Emmett Neumann finished with 11-points and 7 rebounds.

The win improves the Rockets to 3-2 overall. They head to Woodbine for a Rolling Valley Conference matchup on Friday.
