The Ar-We-Va Rockets picked up an exciting home victory over West Harrison Friday night in overtime. The Rockets struggled against West Harrison in the first quarter, being outscored 15-4. Ar-We-Va came storming back in the second quarter to take a 23-19 lead at the half. The second half was back and forth, with both teams tied 32-32 at the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter was high scoring as both teams scored 20 points in the quarter, but again, the game was tied 52-52 going over time. Ar-We-Va would outscore West Harrison in overtime and would go on to win 62-61 to pick up their first victory of the season.
Emmett Neumann almost had a double-double. Neumann recorded a team-high 27 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Blayne Smith scored in double figures with 13 and also recorded ten rebounds. Wade Ragaller recorded a team-high six assists. Tyson VonGaln, off the bench, recorded eight rebounds for Ar-We-Va. With the win, the Rockets improve to 1-1 on the season. They are back in action on Tuesday against Paton-Churdan.

The Audubon Wheelers dropped a challenging conference game Friday night to Tri-Center. The game started back and forth as the Wheelers would lead by three at 19-16 going to the second quarter. Audubon struggled in the second quarter as they were outscored 25-7 and trailed 41-26 at the half. In the third quarter, Tri-Center extended their lead going to the fourth as they led 63-36. In the fourth quarter, Audubon played well, outscoring Tri-Center 16-9. The Wheelers would go on to lose 72-52.
Edward Miller led the Wheelers in scoring with 14 points. Carson Wessel was the second Wheeler in double figures with 12 points. Aaron Olson chipped in eight for Audubon. With the loss, the Wheelers fall to 1-2 on the season. Audubon is back in action on Tuesday against Treynor.

The Carroll Tigers move to 2-0 to start their season with a big conference win over Gilbert Friday night. The Tigers outscored Gilbert in three of the four quarters to pick up their first conference win of the season. Carroll started off shooting the ball well, as they would lead 16-13 going to the second quarter. The Tigers would take a 35-28 lead going into the half as they put up a 19-point second quarter. The second half was high scoring as both teams scored over 20 points in each quarter. The third quarter was the only one the Tigers were outscored in. Gilbert would cut into the Carroll lead going to the fourth but still trailed 59-55. Carroll outscored Gilbert 23-21 in the fourth quarter and went on to win 82-76.
Carroll had three individuals score over 20 points. The Tigers were led in scoring by Caden Lengeling, who scored 25 for Carroll. Payton Wardell also chipped in 20 points. Evan Hammer recorded his second double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Wardell also recorded seven rebounds for Carroll. Hammer passed well from the post, leading the Tigers in assists with six. Mac Collison was second on the team in assists with five. With the win, the Tigers improve to 2-0. Carroll is back in action against North Polk on Tuesday.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders are off to a hot start as they stay undefeated with a conference win Friday night over CAM. For the third straight game, CRB had to come back in the second half to pull out a win. CRB started slow and trailed 13-9 going to the second quarter. The offense picked it up in the second quarter, but the Crusaders still trailed 25-21 at the half. The Crusaders had a big third quarter as they put up 19 points to take a 40-35 lead going to the fourth quarter. CAM attempted a comeback in the fourth, but CRB would go on to win 56-48, picking up their second conference win of the season.
Cal Heydon was the leading scorer for CRB on the night, as he recorded 24 points. Cade Behrens added 11 points for the Crusaders. Caden Oswald was the third-leading scorer for CRB with nine points. As a team, the Crusaders hit eight threes. Three of them coming from Behrens. Heydon also recorded a double-double with ten rebounds. With the win, CRB moves to 3-0 on the season. The Crusaders are back in action on Tuesday at West Harrison.

The Glidden-Ralston Wildcats were the more physical team against Paton-Churdan Friday night. The Wildcats outscored Paton-Churdan in every quarter despite the fourth. Charles Schon was dominant in the first quarter with ten points, and the Rockets had no answer for him in the paint. Glidden-Ralston took a 15-5 lead going to the second quarter. Six different Wildcat players scored in the second quarter as Glidden-Ralston shared the ball well. Jonathan Bergmeier found his touch from behind the arc as he hit two threes to help the Wildcats take a 35-16 lead at the half.
In the second half, Bergmeier caught fire as he scored 13 points in the third quarter, and Glidden-Ralston took a 58-26 lead going into the fourth quarter. Glidden-Ralston would go on to win 64-35 over Paton-Churdan. Three Wildcat players scored in double figures Friday night. They were led by Charles Schon, who had 20. Jonathan Bergmeier chipped in 19 for Glidden-Ralston. The third player in double figures was Lucas Christian, who had 13. Waylon Hein was the leading rebounder for the Wildcats, recording five. Colby Wallace led the team in assists with four.
With the win, Glidden-Ralston improves to 2-0. Paton-Churdan falls to 0-2. The Wildcats are back in action on Monday against Woodward-Granger. The Rockets are back in action on Tuesday against Ar-We-Va.

East Sac had four different players hit a three in the 1st quarter, finishing with 5-3’s in the quarter, helping them build a 21-11 lead. The Raiders finished the game with 9-3’s, shooting 56% from beyond the arc and 58% from the field overall. South Central Calhoun struggled from the field and especially from beyond the arc. The Titans hit 4-21 from three and shot 33% from the field. The Titans defense did a nice job inside against the Raiders post-players but weren’t able to close out on the shooters.
The Raiders kept the pressure up in the 2nd quarter and led 35-22 at half. East Sac’s biggest lead was 19-points but the Titans made a run in the 3rd quarter, pulling within 6-points. Caleb Eichon answered for the Raiders in the 4th, scoring 8-points to help them stretch the lead.
Caleb Eichorn led the Raiders with 18-points with 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Ryan Clair added 12 rebounds and 8-points while Luke Wright finished with 13-points and 7 rebounds. Sam Julin had a strong game with 14-points.
Gavin Batta paced the Titans with 15-points along with 3 steals. Keegan Soard had 8 rebounds, Andrew Anderson had 7-points and 5 rebounds and Cole Higgins added 11-points and 4 assists. Bryce Berquist had 7 rebounds.
The Raiders are 2-0 overall and will host OA-BCIG next Thursday on KIKD 106.7. The Titans slip to 0-2 and will host Manson NW Webster on Monday

The IKM-Manning Wolves lost a back-and-forth game to Riverside Friday night. Riverside jumped out to a 14-11 after the first quarter. IKM-Manning took the lead at half 27-21 after going on a 12-3 run to end the second quarter. Riverside came out of the locker room and took a quick 28-27 lead. IKM-Manning trailed by two 39-37 in the third but ended the quarter on a 7-0 run and took a 44-39 lead going to the fourth. The Wolves missed free throws down the stretch and would go on to lose 57-52.
Lane Sams was the leading scorer for IKM-Manning with 23 points. Ross Kusel recorded a double-double with 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Justin Segebart recorded six points and five rebounds for the Wolves. With the loss, IKM-Manning drops to 0-3 on the season. IKM-Manning is back in action on Tuesday against AHSTW.
