Girls State Swim Meet, Preliminary Round on Friday, November 10th
Carroll At State
Carroll had five swimmers compete in the prelims on Friday, advancing Emma Myers into the finals. Myers finished 8th in the 100 Breast, swimming a 1:05.36, just off her qualifying time of 1:04.08, which was a school record. She will swim on Saturday afternoon in the finals, swimming in Heat 2, in lane 8. Mai Wellingerhof finished 32nd in her first ever state meet event, having joined the Tigers as a foreign-exchange student this school year. Her outstanding season will continue on Saturday as part of the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay. She swam a 2:20.70 on Friday in the 200 IM. Emma Myers started her day with a 19th place finish in 24.99 in the 50 Free, while Amelia Holt swam a 25.09, finishing in 22nd place. Amelia Holt added a 22nd place in the 100 Fly on Friday, swimming a 1:01.35. Holt will also swim again on Saturday as part of the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay.
The Tigers will have all three relays and Myers in the 100 Breast on Saturday. The State meet begins at noon. The Tigers will swim in Heat 4, Lane 1 in the 200 Medley Relay to start the meet with Mai Wellingerhof, Emma Myers, Amelia Holt and Zelda DeMoss. The 200 Free Relay will feature Myers, Natalie Kent, Hailey Burns and Amelia Holt. They will be in Heat 3 in Lane 2. Emma Myers will then compete in the 100 Breast, swimming in Heat 2 in Lane 8. The final event of the meet will be the 400 Free Relay and Carroll will swim in Heat 1 in Lane 5. Mai Wellingerhof, Zelda DeMoss, Natalie Kent and Hailey Burns will compete.
