Girls State Qualifying Swim Results Saturday, November 4th
Carroll At Ames
Carroll had their best day of the season, sending all three relays and five individuals in four events to the State Swim Meet in Marshalltown on Saturday, November 11th. The Tigers had set things up perfectly for the State Qualifying meet, having the entire team in their best position to swim their best. It worked perfectly as Carroll set a personal best in every swim on Saturday, along with setting two new school records. They finished 3rd in the team race with 246-points, behind champion Ames with 512-points and Sioux City with 358-points. Carroll always has a good day if the 200 Medley Relay has a good start to a meet. They did, taking 2nd place with a new school record of 1:50.10. Mai Wellingerhof, Emma Myers, Amelia Holt and Zelda DeMoss teamed up to break the record the had been held since 2010. They will be seated 7th at State. Emma Myers continued her great season, winning the 100 Breast while breaking her own school record. Her 1:04.08 has her as the number one seed at the State Meet. Myers also qualified in the 50 Free along with Amelia Holt. Her 3rd place finish earned her the 12th seed with Holt taking 4th place and will be seated 14th. Mai Wellingerhof added to the Tigers qualifiers, taking 6th in the 200 IM in 2:12.27 and will be seated 25th. Amelia Holt added another individual event, taking 4th in 1:01.19 in the 100 Fly and will be seated 23rd. Carroll also advanced in the 200 Free Relay with Emma Myers, Natalie Kent, Hailey Burns and Amelia Holt. They finished 3rd in 1:41.44 and will be seated 13th. Their final event will be the 400 Free Relay with Mai Wellingerhof, Zelda DeMoss, Natalie Kent and Hailey Burns. They qualified as the 26th seed, taking 4th in 3:51.16.
State Swim begins on Friday with preliminary rounds and finals on Saturday.
