Carroll High swept both Algona and Perry on Tuesday in Perry, edging a talented Perry team 87-73 and cruising past Algona 106-54. The Tigers won two of the three relays, taking 2nd in the other. They were strong in individual events as well, taking 1st in four events and 2nd in three more. Head Coach Deb Danner says the girls swam really well, having some amazing times with time drops throughout the meet. She says the good competition helped them push to get their best times.
The 200 Medley Relay team took 1st in 1:58.12 with Mai Wellingerhof, Emma Myers, Hailey Burns and Zelda DeMoss. They also won the 200 Free Relay with Emma Myers, Natalie Kent, Hailey Burns and Amelia Holt, swimming a 1:47.79. Emma Myers took 1st in the 200 IM in 2:17.55, Zelda DeMoss won the 500 Free in 6:11.52 and Mai Wellingerhof won the 100 Back in 1:05.74 while Emma Myers won the 100 Breast in 1:06.77. Amelia Holt went 2nd in the 200 Free, Mai Wellingerhof was 2nd in the 50 Free and Amelia Holt took 2nd in the 100 Fly. Carroll was also 2nd in the 400 Free Relay with Natalie Kent, Zelda DeMoss, Mai Wellingerhof and Amelia Holt. They swam a 4:00.84.
