A fumble return late in the 1st quarter broke open a tight game and gave Madrid all the momentum as IKM-Manning falls in the opening round of the Class A playoffs. The Tigers used a fumble and blocked punt to set up their first score. The Wolves trailed 7-0 and were driving with under 4:00 left in the 1st quarter when Madrid scooped up a fumble and returned it 70-yards for a touchdown. That put the Tigers up 14-0. They added another score before the end of the 1st quarter and IKM-Manning didn’t recover. The Wolves finished with 124-yards passing and 105-yard rushing. Madrid did their damage on the ground, running for 258-yards on 25 carries, averaging 10.3-yards per carry. They passed twice, completing both for 58-yards and a touchdown.
Preston Wicker put the Tigers on the board first with a 30-yard touchdown run with 7:59 left in the 1st quarter. IKM-Manning looked to be heading for points late in the 1st quarter, but Kyle Kruckenburg took a fumble, returning it 70-yards for a touchdown, putting the Tigers up 14-0 with 3:43 left in the 1st quarter. An 18-yard run by Tyler Fuller made it 21-0 just before the end of the quarter. The Wolves defense held firm in the 2nd quarter until the final few minutes. Madrid went on a 5-play 78-yard drive with Preston Wicker scoring on a 19-yard run with 2:49 left in the half. The Tigers got it right back and Tyler Fuller scampered 61-yards for a touchdown, making it 35-0 with 1:29 left in the half.
The 2nd half was played with a continuous clock which limited the opportunities for both teams. Preston Wicker hit Jake Leonard for a 12-yard touchdown in the 3rd quarter for Madrid and Kyzer Springer booted a 39-yard field goal with 5:54 left, making it 45-0. The Wolves got on the board late with Ben Ramsey finding Ross Kusel for a 30-yard score with 1:58 remaining.
Ben Ramsey passed for 124-yards and a touchdown, finding Ross Kusel for 6 catches for 99-yards, including a touchdown. Ben Langel had 66-yards on 19-carries. Kusel led the defense with 5.5 tackles and Nolan Kerkhoff added 5 tackles with 3 solo tackles.
