Boys State Qualifying Cross Country Meets 

East Sac and South Central Calhoun At Dike New Hartford- Class 2A

The East Sac Boys accomplished their goal on Thursday, qualifying for State as a team. The Raiders ran another great race in a tough field, narrowly missing out on a championship. They had two runners in the top four and four runners finish in the top 16th. They were edged by Forest City, which won the title with 68-points and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura with 69-points. The Raiders had 71-points, finishing in third and advancing to State as a team. Redge Potts of South Central Calhoun will join them there as he finished 14th to qualify as an individual as the Titans finished 9th with 226-points. Neal Pinter was the individual champion, running a 15:55.87, winning by 12 seconds over Zach Flatebo of Garner-Hayfield, Ventura. Parker Engel and Isaiah Aragon battled for 3rd and 4th with Engel taking 3rd in 16:39.91 and Aragon in 4th with a 16:44.83. Landon Sporrer nearly finished in the  top 10 for the Raiders, taking 11th  with teammate Owen Engel in 16th. Potts of South Central Calhoun ran a 17:22.47 for 14th place.

The Raiders boys and Potts will run Saturday, October 28th At 11:15.

IKM-Manning At Spencer- Class 1A

Lane Sams of IKM-Manning is headed to State Cross Country on Friday, October 27th after finishing 10th at the State qualifying meet in Spencer. The Wolves just missed making it as a team with three runners in the top 20, as they finished 3rd as a team with 87-points, behind Woodbine with 36-points and Sibley-Ocheyedan with 69-points. Sams ran a 18:03.78, holding off Thomas Tremel of Woodbine by .24. Camden Morris took 15th place, running a 18:34.95 and Isaac Blankman was 20th in 19:07.97. Landon Bendgen of Woodbine was the individual champion with a 16:05.87 and Ben Byers of Sibley-Ocheyedan was 2nd in 16:40.13.

Sams will run at 2:45 on Friday in Fort Dodge.

Ar-We-Va, Audubon and Coon Rapids Bayard At Panorama-  Class 1A

Landon Cook of Coon Rapids Bayard was the top local finisher for the area teams in Panorama on Thursday with none of three teams filling out a team roster and collecting a team score. Cook sprained his ankle about a third of the way through the race, causing him to slip from the low to mid 20’s to a 36th place finish. He ran a 20:04.8. His teammates Jace Baker and Kellen Hillgenberg finished 63rd and 64th respectively with Baker catching him at the finish line. Eli Deist led the Wheelers, running a 20:25.8 to finish 41st with Brody Schultes of Audubon in 44th place. Jacob Hanson was the lone runner for Ar-We-Va, he finished in 69th place, running a 26:31.5.

ACGC won the team crown with 26-points with Ogden in 2nd with 63-points. Carson Van Sickle of Ogden was the individual champion in 16:52.0, beating Andrew Mahaffey of ACGC, who  ran a 16:53.0 for 2nd place.
