Volleyball Regional Results Monday, October 16th 

Ar-We-Va At River Valley- Class 1A Region 1

Ar-We-Va competed well into the second set before a 7-0 service run where the Rockets struggled with serve receive put the set and match out of reach. Ar-We-Va tied the first set at 3 and 4 and trailed 8-6 before a service run by the Wolverines stretched the lead to 25-6. The Rockets battled back, pulling within 16-10 on an ace by Trista Reis. Morgan Berg and Annalee Wittrock both had kills down the stretch but the Wolverines held off a late rally, where Ar-We-Va pulled within 20-14, after being down 20-11. River Valley used that late momentum from set one to build a 5-0 lead in set two but Ar-We-Va fought back , pulling within 6-3. Jazmine Molina added a kill, cutting the deficit to 9-4. The Rockets hung tight, getting kills from Annalee Wittrock, Amber Ragaller and two from Morgan Berg. They trailed 16-10 midway through set two but River Valley closed the set on a 9-2 with a service run that extended their lead to 24-10. Makayla Schrad had an early kill for Ar-We-Va in set three, getting the Rockets on the board, down 2-1. Ar-We-Va had one stint each set where they struggled against the serve and it happened early in set three with River Valley 14-3 and 20-5, thanks to their serve and getting swings from Addie Law and Alaina Goettsch.

Amber Ragaller ended the night with 6 assists and 8 digs. Delaney Schurke had 17 digs while Trista Reis added 10 digs and Emma Leiting had 8 digs. Morgan Berg and Annalee Wittrock both had 2 kills.

The Rockets end their season 2-24.

IKM-Manning At Glidden Ralston- Class 1A Region 1

Glidden Ralston survived and advanced through the opening round as IKM-Manning battled hard, taking a 2-1 lead into set four. Glidden Ralston was able to regain control, using a strong serve and staying aggressive in the back row, keeping the ball alive. Glidden Ralston finished the night hitting .219 with 54 kills, having seven different players have a kill, led by Lauren Hulsing with 22 kills. IKM-Manning swung well, especially in sets two and three. They finished with a .190 kill efficiency with 35 kills. The Wolves had seven players with a kill as well. IKM-Manning block kept them in the match with Megan Williams pacing a 18 block night with 8 blocks, followed by Karlee Arp with 5 blocks. Both back rows played well with Glidden Ralston holding a 106 to 98 advantage in digs. The difference for the Wildcats was the service line. They had 15 aces, with Addy Boell finishing with 4 while IKM-Manning had a better serve percentage, but finished with 4 aces.

Glidden Ralston took control of set one midway through and won going away, 25-18. IKM-Manning didn’t fold and bounced back well in set two. The Wolves defense at the net got rolling and they were able to pull out the 25-18 win. Set three could have been the swing match with IKM-Manning earning a hard-fought 25-23 win. The seniors from Glidden Ralston didn’t want their season to end says Tiela Janssen in the postgame with Carroll Broadcasting Sports Network. They stepped up with Summer Toms and Lauren Hulsing getting rolling at the net. The Wildcats dominated set four, winning 25-14 to send it to a fifth set. It was tight early, tied at 3 but the Wildcats edged away, going on to win 15-6.

Lauren Hulsing had a team high 22 kills for Glidden Ralston while Summer Toms had an outstanding all-around match, finishing with 13 kills and 20 digs. Addy Boell kept her hitters rolling with 44 assists to go with 15 digs and a team high 4 aces. Hulsing had 3 blocks with a pair of aces while Lauren Klocke had 21 digs and 2 aces. Ashlynn Tigges almost quietly had a strong night with 9 kills along with 23 digs and 3 aces. Tiela Janssen finished with 23 digs and a pair of aces.

Megan Williams was teriffic for IKM-Manning, ending the match with 12 kills and 8 blocks, both team highs. Addisyn Bandow had 7 kills, Abby Wanser added 6 kills and Karlee Arp had another nice all-around match with 5 kills, 12 assists, 14 digs and 5 blocks. Ella Richards had a team high 17 assists and 12 digs. Anna Stangl had a team high 23 digs with Grace Carroll finishing with 14 digs. Eryn Ramsey added 12 digs.

The Wildcats improve to 27-4 and will host Boyer Valley on Wednesday. IKM-Manning ends the season at 4-22.

Audubon vs Coon Rapids-Bayard- Class 1A Region 1

The Audubon Wheelers advance to the class 1A region quarterfinals with a sweep of Coon Rapids-Bayard Monday night. The first set was never tied as Audubon jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Wheelers would go on to win the first set 25-12. The second set was better than the first, as it was tied nine times. Audubon took a 9-8 lead and never let it go, as they would go on to win 25-13. With their season on the line, CRB came out of the gates in the third set, ready to play. The Crusaders jumped out to a 7-4 lead, but the set was quickly tied at eight before Audubon took a 9-8 lead. Once the Wheelers had a lead, they never let it go, and they would go on to win the third set 35-13 over CRB. Audubon would go on to win 3-0.

Mattie Nielsen led the Wheelers in kills with 19. The next closest was Harlow Miller, who had nine kills for Audubon. Addie Hocker distributed the volleyball well tonight as she dished out 29 assists. The Wheelers were fantastic at the nets defensively, as they recorded eight blocks as a team. Miller led the team in blocks with four. Audubon also served very well as they recorded 13 aces.

CRB was led Monday night by Malia Clayburg, who recorded ten kills. As a team, the Crusaders had 14 kills on the night. Aubrey Hofbauer led the Crusaders in assists with eight. As a team, CRB recorded seven blocks at the net. Lydia Hofbauer recorded three blocks. With the win, Audubon improves to 19-11 on the season. The Crusaders season comes to an end with a record of 9-18. Audubon advances to take on River Valley on Wednesday.

Paton Churdan played their best match of the year, showing great glimpes into the future with only one senior on the roster. They controlled the first set, winning 25-16 behind a strong showing from Mia Russel at the net and Hailey Hoyle in the back row. Colo-Nesco took control of the match over the final three sets, winning 25-11, 25-8 and 25-14.

Mia Russell finished the night with 6 kills while Hailey Hoyle had 9 digs and Ella Tasler added a pair of aces.

The Rockets end the season 0-14.
