The Audubon Wheelers lock up a district title with a blowout win on the road against a struggling Collins-Maxwell. The Wheelers started slow but then got things going as they would go on to win 68-18. Audubon is currently on a six-game winning streak and has overpowered teams with their running attack. Friday night, the Wheelers ran for over 300 yards. The Wheeles scored a touchdown in the first quarter, but so did Collins-Mawell. Audubon would hold on to a two-point lead at 8-6 going to the second quarter. The Wheelers would play better in the second quarter but only hold on to a ten-point lead 28-18 at the half. The second half was all Audubon as the defense continued to play well, and the offense came around. The Wheelers would put up 34 points in the third quarter as they blew the game open and took a 62-18 going to the fourth quarter. Audubon added another touchdown in the fourth and would go on to win 68-18 as they clinched an 8-Man district championship.
Carson Wessel showed off his speed as he went over 100 yards on the ground and averaged 16 yards a carried. Wessel recorded 133 yards on eight carries and scored four touchdowns. Aaron Olsen also had over 100 yards on the ground. Olsen totaled 125 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns. Olsen completed two of his three passes for 68 yards and a touchdown. Edward Miller caught one pass for 65 yards and a touchdown. Austin Christiensen has been a force on the defensive end for the Wheelers this season. He recorded eight tackles. With the win, Audubon improves to 6-1 with one week remaining in their regular season. The Wheelers are back at home on Friday against Baxter.
