Ar-We-Va pulled away in the 2nd quarter, keeping their playoffs hopes alive with a dominant win over Newell Fonda at home. The Rockets led 14-7 going into the 2nd quarter, then outscored the Mustangs 29-0 in the 2nd quarter, leading by 36-points at half. The Rockets were able to establish the ground game in the 1st quarter, helping to open the passing game. The offensive line had strong performance, creating gaps to run in and giving Blayne Smith time to throw. The defense had a strong game, getting pressure on the Mustangs passing game, while doing a good job switching up the defense during the game.
The Rockets scored on a pair of drives in the 1st quarter while Newell Fonda returned the kickoff after the Rockets first score back for a touchdown. The second touchdown of the quarter put the Rockets up 14-7 after one quarter. Wyatt Ragaller extended the lead to 20-7 with 5:56 left in the half with a touchdown run. They extended the lead moments later as the defense caught the Mustangs in the end zone for a safety. Ar-We-Va added a touchdown on the ensuing possession on a reverse between Wade Ragaller and Wyatt Ragaller with 1:52 left in the half. Newell Fonda was unable to move the ball and Ar-We-Va pounced, scoring on a Wade Ragaller catch with 0:10 left in the half. They added the 2-point conversion, making it 36-7. Ar-We-Va recovered the onside kick and Wyatt Ragaller scored on a 35-yard run to end the half and the Rockets were up 43-7 at half.
Ar-We-Va scored again in the 3rd as Blayne Smith found Wade Ragaller, making it 50-7. Newell Fonda added a score midway through the 4th quarter.
Blayne Smith had a great game passing, going 12-15 for 210-yards and 4 TD. Wyatt Ragaller finished with 69-yards rushing and 44-yards receiving with 2 rush touchdowns and 1 receiving touchdown. Wade Ragaller had 70-yards rushing and scored a pair of receiving touchdowns on 3 catches and 55-yards. Johnathan Riesselman had 2 catches for 60-yards.
The Rockets improved to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the district. They travel to Boyer Valley on Friday on 93.7 KKRL with the winner earning the 3rd seed and a playoff berth.
