Carroll hit .164 with 30 kills in a three set loss on the road on Tuesday. The Tigers had started slowly, dropping set one, 25-14 but bounced back in set two, giving themselves a chance before falling 25-21. Carroll hung tough in set three, but the Wildcats worked out a 25-18 win. The Tigers had six players have a kill, led by Olivia Rowedder and Mollie Feld, each with 8. Feld hit .500, finishing with just 1 hitting error. Amana Wardell and Freshman Analia Ayala both added 5 kills. Riley Nagl did a nice job finding her hot hitters and feeding them the ball, finishing with 21 assists while Marasyn Wittrock dished out 4 assists and had a team high 17 digs. Nagl added 14 digs and Averi Burke had 11 digs. Carroll served 98.1% for the match, finishing with 1 ace from Ayala.

The loss drops Carroll to 6-23 overall and 1-6 in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers entertain ADM on Tuesday next week.

Ar-We-Va At Glidden Ralston

Glidden Ralston serve kept Ar-We-Va on their heals most of the match, though the Rockets kept battling back. The first set went back and forth early with both teams having the lead, Ar-We-Va 2-1 and Glidden Ralston taking the lead for good at 3-2. Sets two and three played out similar to each other with Glidden Ralston building an early lead and Ar-We-Va cutting it down before the Wildcats would close strong to pull away for  the win and the sweep.

Summer Toms put Glidden Ralston up 3-2 in set one with a kill, that was followed by a kill from Brileigh Bock and and Ace from Elizabeth Lloyd, putting the Wildcats up 5-2. Ar-We-Va battled back, pulling within 6-5 but Toms added another kill, followed by ace serves from Lauren Klocke. Summer Toms added a kill and an ace later in the set, then she added another kill, putting the Wildcats up 17-8. Kaitlyn Malcom added another Wildcat ace as Glidden Ralston went on to win 25-18. Annalee Wittrock did have a pair of kills late in the set for Ar-We-Va, pulling them within 23-18.

Lauren Klocke had service runs to start sets two and three, helping the Wildcats jump up 5-0 in both sets. Klocke had 4 aces combined to start those sets. Ashlynn Tigges had three kills in the early runs in sets two and three and Tiela Janssen had a pair of aces. Glidden Ralston never trailed in set two and built a 15-6 lead on a 6-0 run. Amber Ragaller had a kill for Ar-We-Va to stop the run but Ashlynn Tigges and Summer Toms combined to score the next five points for Glidden Ralston. Emma Leiting had a late ace for Ar-We-Va.

Addy Boell took over in set three for the Wildcats, finding corners and the donut open. She helped the Wildcats get up 11-4 before Annalee Wittrock and Emma Leiting pulled Ar-We-Va within 13-6. Glidden Ralston maintained a 10-point lead most of the third set.

Addy Boell and Summer Toms led the Wildcats unofficially with 9 kills each while Boell  added 12 assists and a pair of aces. Ashlynn Tigges had 5 kills and 3 aces and Lauren Klocke added 6 aces.

Annalee Wittrock paced Ar-We-Va with 6 kills, followed by Makayla Schrad with 3 kills. Amber Ragaller finished with 8 assists. Delaney Schurke had a team high 9 digs, Trista Reis added 7 digs.

Glidden Ralston moves to 23-3 on the season and 5-2 in the Rolling Valley Conference and will  head to Woodbine on Thursday. Ar-We-Va slips to 1-16 and 1-7 and will travel to the CAM Tournament on Saturday.

IKM-Manning at Logan-Magnolia

 The IKM-Manning Wolves picked up an exciting and hard-fought 3-0 victory over Logan-Magnolia Tuesday night on the road. The first set was a story of runs as the Wolves jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead on an Ella Richards serving run. A time-out by Logan-Magnolia led to a 15-5 run by the Panthers as they took a 15-12 lead in set one. IKM-Manning took a 16-15 and never looked back, as they would go on to win 25-22. Set two was different from set one and was also close in score. Set one was a game of runs, and set two was back and forth. Set two was tied ten times. The Wolves tied the game at 16 and then took a 21-16 lead. IKM-Manning would go on to win set two 25-21. Like the first two sets, the third was different and the best of the match. The set started back and forth with ties at one, three, and five. Logan-Magnolia jumped out to a 9-5 lead in set three and led for most of the match. IKM-Manning would get the set close, and then the Panthers would go on a run to get it back to five points. Down to set point, Logan-Magnolia held a 24-18 lead. IKM-Manning would score eight straight points and go on to win set three 26-24. 

Megan Williams was fantastic at the nets for the Wolves as she led the team in kills with seven and in blocks with five. Karlee Arp passed the ball well and was great at the net. She was second in the team in assists with five and also recorded five kills. Ella Richards led the team in assists with seven. IKM-Manning as a team recorded nine blocks defensively. Arp also led the team in aces, recording three for the Wolves. With the win, IKM-Manning improves to 4-16 and 1-6 in conference play. IKM-Manning is back in action on Thursday at home against Riverside.

Audubon served well, helping them pull out two sets by two points each. The Wheelers were cruising in set one when Mattie Nielsen went down and AHSTW was able to rally. Nielsen returned and the Wheelers held on for a 25-23 win. The Wheelers dominated set two, finishing the night with 11 aces, which helped keep the Vikings out-of-system. The six point win in set two, put the Wheelers up and gave them momentum heading into set three. Audubon again had to make plays down the stretch, pulling out a 25-23 win for the sweep.

Harlow Miller was outstanding, hitting .250 and finishing with a team high 13 kills. Mattie Nielsen bounced back well after leaving in the first set, finishing with 12 kills. The Wheelers hit .188 for the match with 32 kills and five players recording at least one kill. Addie Hocker did a nice job getting Nielsen and Miller clean looks, finishing with 29 assists. Anna Larsen led a balanced back row with 12 digs while Addie Hocker and Michelle Brooks both had 9 digs and Mattie Nielsen finished with 7 digs. Harlow Miller and Addie Hocker had 3 blocks each. Miller added a team high 4 aces with Kadence Brannan-Sporrer, Michelle Brooks and Anna Larsen all having 2 aces.

The Wheelers improved to 16-9 overall and 4-3 in the Western Iowa Conference. They host LoMa on 93.7 KKRL on Thursday.

A young Paton Churdan team fell at home to the 4th place team in the Rolling Valley Conference. The Tigers of Woodbine swept the Rockets winning 25-11, 25-15 and 25-9. Paton Churdan got a solid night from Kaliyan Minnehan, leading them with 3 kills, 6 digs and 2 aces while Grace Cullum added 2 assists. The Rockets fall to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in the Conference. They travel to CAM  on Thursday.

Coon Rapids Bayard played well on Tuesday but CAM played very well in picking up a sweep over the Crusaders. The Crusaders hit .073 with 21 kills, having six players have a kill, led by Malia Clayburg with 9 kills and Ashtyn Klocke with 6 kills. They had 20 assists on their 21 kills with Aubrey Hofbauer having 12 assists. Malia Clayburg led the back row with 26 digs and Anna Hart added 16 digs as the Crusaders finished with 67 digs. Lydia Hofbauer paced the defense at the net with 3 blocks with Aubrey Hofbauer added 2 blocks. Anna Hart had the teams lone ace. Coon Rapids Bayard played their best set in the final set of the match, falling 25-17.

The Crusaders fall to 8-14 overall and 3-4 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They head to Boyer Valley on Thursday.
