Volleyball Results Saturday, September 30th 

Carroll At Greene County Tournament 

Carroll played their best of the season in a weekend tournament, earning a pair of match wins while pushing ranked South Hardin to three sets. The Tigers went 2-2 in matches with wins over Stanton and Nodaway Valley and losses to Greene County in two close sets and a three set loss to South Hardin. Carroll went 5-4 in sets played. The Tigers best match may have been a 2-1 loss to South Hardin. Carroll dropped a close 1st set, then battled for a 23-21 win in set 2, playing well in a 3rd set loss, falling 15-10. They also pushed Greene County in both sets, falling in set two, 28-26. Their wins featured three close set wins that saw Carroll make plays down the stretch. Then a convincing win in the 2nd set against Nodaway Valley, winning 21-9.

Olivia Rowedder had another strong day with a team high 23 kills along with 17 digs, 12 blocks and 4 aces. She led the team in kills, blocks and aces. Amanda Wardell continues to come on with 16 kills, followed by Analia Ayala with 12 and Mollie Feld with 11 kills. Riley Nagl had 40 assists to led the Tigers with Emily Puck adding 19 assists. Marasyn Wittrock had a team high 23 digs with three players having 19 in Puck, Averi Burke and Nagl. Nagl added 4 blocks and a pair of aces. Wittrock also had 2 aces while Emily Puck added 3 aces.

The Tigers improved to 6-22 on the season and will head to Carlisle on Tuesday.

Glidden Ralston At Riverside Tournament 

Glidden Ralston had another strong day, going 4-1 in matches and nearly winning another tournament title. The Wildcats split with Clarinda, dropping a hard fought championship match in three sets. Glidden Ralston finished the day 9-4 in sets with a pair of sweeps over West Central Valley and West Monona. Both wins had tight second sets with the  Wildcats beating WCB 21-17 and West Monona 24-22. They dropped their first set to Riverside, 21-19, but rallied back to win the final two sets, including 15-10 in the final set. They knocked off Clarinda in the pool play portion of the tournament, winning sets one and three, 21-19 and 15-8 respectively. They dropped a tight second set 21-17. Things nearly reversed in the championship match. The Wildcats won set 2, 21-17 but lost the opening set 21-14, then fell in the 3rd set, 15-10.

Tiela Janssen had a very strong day in the back, named to the All-Tournament team. There are no stats available as camera issues didn’t allow stats to be recorded.

The Wildcats sit 17-3 on the season and will head to Ogden on Monday for a quadrangular with Ogden, South Hamilton and Des Moines Hoover.

IKM-Manning At Tri Center Tournament 

IKM-Manning picked up a win over Lawton Bronson and played well in loss to Atlantic. They finished the day 1-4 in matches, going 2-8 in sets losses of 21-19 to Westwood and 21-18, 21-17 to Atlantic. The Wolves played their best volleyball in the afternoon with the win over Lawton Bronson, dominating the opening set and winning a tighter set two, then playing two tight sets with Atlantic.

Megan Williams paced the hitters with 14 kills with Karlee Arp and Abby Wanser both having 7 kills and Addisyn Bandow adding 6 kills. Ella Richards had team highs of 22 assists and 6 aces. Arp added 11 assists and tied with Grace Carroll for the lead in digs with 24 each. Eryn Ramsey added 23 digs while Anna Stangl and Ella Richards both had 2o digs. Megan Willams had a team high 4 blocks, followed by Abby Wanser and Kate Stangl both with 3 blocks. Grace Carroll, Megan Williams and Karlee Arp all had 3 aces.

The Wolves sit 3-16 on the season and will head to LoMa on Tuesday.

Audubon At Madrid Tournament 

Audubon finished the tournament 1-3 on the day in matches, knocking off Madrid in two sets, winning 21-8 and 21-13. They took the opening set from Webster City, winning 21-17, but dropped the next two. The Wheelers were swept by Panorama and Ankeny Christian Academy. They finished 3-6 in sets. Audubon played without a pair of starters from earlier in the season and had to shuffle the lineup. They battled hard with kids in different positions.

Harlow Miller led them with 15 kills followed by Addie Hocker with 11 kills and Michelle Brooks with 7 kills. Anna Larsen moved to setter, finishing with 25 assists. Kadence Brannan-Sporrer paced a balanced back row with 17 digs, followed by Anna Larsen with 14, Addie Hocker 13, Briley Belnap 12 and Michelle Brooks with 9. Harlow Miller had a team high 5 blocks with Addie Hocker with 2 blocks. Miller added a team high 7 blocks with Anna Larsen with 6 blocks and Briley Belnap with 3 aces.

The Wheelers slipped to 14-10 overall and will head to AHSTW on Tuesday.
