IKM-Manning 7

South Central Calhoun spoils IKM-Mannings homecoming in a game where both teams started slow. For the first 20 minutes, neither team was able to get in the endzone. South Central Calhoun turned the ball over five times in the game despite coming out with four touchdowns, winning 35-7. IKM-Manning forced two turnovers on the first two SCC drives as Ben Ramsey came away with two interceptions defensively. Neither team scored in the first quarter, and we went to the second tied at zero. SCC scored their first touchdown of the game late in the second quarter on a Keegan Soard 17-yard touchdown catch from Gavin Batta. On the Titan’s next possession, Keegan Soard came up with another big catch as he scored his second touchdown of the game on a 50-yard reception from Batta. SCC would take a 12-0 lead at the half after putting up two quick touchdowns to end the second quarter. After the halftime break, IKM-Manning could not score, and the Titans got the ball back. SCC moved down the field on their opening drive of the second half, and a Zach Trott touchdown capped it off to make the score 21-7. Brock Nattress took the game over late for SCC as the Titans scored on their very next possession on a 39-yard touchdown catch from Nattress. IKM-Manning struggled to get their offense going all night, and SCC took a 28-0 lead going to the fourth quarter. Brock Nattress fumbled the ball early in the fourth quarter for SCC. IKM-Manning took over down 28-0, coming off of the turnover. Nattress would redeem himself from the fumble as he came up with an interception on defense. SCC came back out on the field, and in the first place, Nattress ripped off a 95-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach and make the score 35-0. Looking to build some momentum going into next week, IKM-Manning was able to score late in the fourth quarter as Ben Ramsey found Ross Kusle for a 20-yard touchdown as the Wolves would fall at home 35-7 in Class A District 7.

Brock Nattress showed off his speed all game long as he carried the football 12 times and recorded 156. Despite turning the ball over four times, Gavin Batta still throws a great football. He completed 13 of his 21 attempts for 225 yards and three touchdowns. Keegan Soard used his height to capitalize on mismatches. Soard recorded five receptions for 114 yards and scored two touchdowns. Cole Higgens was the leading tackler for the Titans. He totaled eight tackles in the game. IKM-Manning struggled offensively, as they only totaled 68 yards on the ground as a team. Ben Ramsey completed 10 of his 22 pass attempts for 76 yards and a touchdown. Ben Langel led the Wolves in rushing with 42 yards. Ross Kusel led the team in catches and receiving yards. He recorded four receptions for 34 yards and a touchdown. Nolan Kerkhoff led IKM-Manning in tackles with 8.5. Lane Sams recorded eight tackles for the Wolves.

The win improves SCC to 4-1 on the season. The loss drops IKM-Manning to 3-2. The Titans are back in action Friday with a big home non-district game against West Hancock. The Wolves head to ACGC on Friday.
