The game was tight at half with the Raiders trailing 14-0 but the offense struggled to move the football and Pocahontas Area was able to extend the lead in the 4th quarter. East Sac finished with 23-yards passing and 48-yards on the ground while the Indians passed for 197-yards and ran for another 167-yards. East Sac turned it over three times but had an interception and fumble recovery on defense.
The game was scoreless in the 2nd quarter until Pocahontas started their first drive of the 2nd quarter. They marched from their own 20-yard line and scored on a 9-yard pass from Lucas Kopriva to Ryan Sommerlot, putting them up 7-0. A Raider Lfumble on their possession following the Indians score helped set up the Indians second touchdown. Kopriva hit Blake Roberts for a 14-yard touchdown, five players later, putting them up 14-0 with 6:24 left in the half.
The Raiders got back into the game in the 3rd quarter when Tate Lahr scored on a 19-yard run. That followed a muffed punt by Pocahontas Area, setting the Raiders up at the Indians 19-yard line. The Raiders trailed 14-6 with 10:10 left in the 3rd quarter. The Indians answered with a touchdown with 7:56 left in the 3rd. Ryan Sommerlot punched it in from a yard out. The game remained 20-6 until midway through the 4th quarter when Lucas Kopriva hit Gabe Ehn for a 10-yard touchdown, putting the Indians up 28-6.
Landon Grindle led the Raiders with 36-yards on 13 carries and Charlie Veit added 25-yards on one carry. Veit had a team high 13-yard receiving on 3 catches. Karter Ludwig had a team high 14.5 tackles along with an interception while Jack Gullett had 6 tackles and a fumble recovery.
The Raiders falls to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the district. The will host Eagle Grove Friday on the CB Sports Network YouTube Channel.
