Kuemper At CYO Tournament At Bishop Heelan
Kuemper had a strong day, going 4-1 but falling to Bishop Heelan in the championship deciding match. The Knights swept past St Edmond, Remsen St Mary’s, Bishop Garrigan and Gehlen Catholic. The win over St Edmond included a hard fought 22-20 win in set two. Kuemper had 10 blocks and hit .213 in the win. Gehlen Catholic hung tough in both sets but the Knights were able to make enough plays to hold them at bay. Kuemper finished the match with 27 digs to go with 11 blocks. Kuemper and Heelan met up in the final match of the tournament with the Crusaders edging the Knights in set one, but they took control in set two, winning 21-8. Heelan hit .269 at the net, holding Kuemper to .085. The Knights had 11 errors and 16 kills. Heelan had 40 digs, keeping the pressure on the Knights. Kuemper had 36 digs as the back row battled.
Frannie Glynn led an balanced attack at the net with 28 kills, Kaci Peter 21 kills, Aubrey Heuton 18 kills and Lauren Boell added 17 kills. Both setters had solid days with Elsa Tiefenthaler finishing with 49 assists and Karsyn Overmohle adding 48 assists. Kaylie Simons was strong in the back row, leading Kuemper with 64 digs, Brianna Wittrock played her typical terrific all-around match with 25 digs, 13 kills, 10 blocks and 3 aces. Elsa Tiefenthaler added 14 digs and Brooke Rohe had 11 digs. Alivia Schenkelberg and Frannie Glynn both had 8 blocks. Aubrey Heuton had a team high 4 aces with Frannie Glynn added 3 aces.
The Knights are 23-4 on the season and will travel along with Atlantic to Shenandoah on Tuesday for a triangular.

Audubon, IKM-Manning and South Central Calhoun At Carroll Tournament
South Central Calhoun earned a hard fought championship, going 5-0, knocking off Newell Fonda in the semifinals and Fort Dodge in the championship match. The Titans went 5-0 in matches and 10-2 in sets with sweeps of Spencer, Audubon and Fort Dodge and three set wins over Storm Lake and Newell Fonda. The Titans had to battle back to win both sets against Audubon, who played well in the loss. The Titans were 3-0 in matches and 6-1 in sets in pool play before beating Newell Fonda in the semifinals and Fort Dodge in the finals. They dropped the first set to Newell Fonda, then won two tight sets, including a 16-14 third set. A 24-22 set one win the title match was followed by a strong showing in the second set, winning 21-13.
Audubon finished the day 2-2 overall but played well, even after losing a starter due to injury and having to rearrange their lineup. The Wheelers defeated Storm Lake and Spencer both in two sets, falling in two close sets to South Central Calhoun. The Wheelers led late in both sets against South Central Calhoun. Audubon advanced out of pool play at 2-1 before falling to Fort Dodge in the semifinals in three sets. The Wheelers dropped sets one and three (15-11) to Fort Dodge while winning set two. Audubon finished the day going 5-3 in sets.
Carroll went 1-2 on the day, finishing 3rd in their pool with a three set win over IKM-Manning and a pair of close losses to Fort Dodge and Newell Fonda, both in two sets but all four sets were close. Carroll dropped their first set of the morning, losing 21-15 to IKM-Manning but bounced back to win 21-11 and 15-13 in set three. Carroll pushed Fort Dodge really hard, losing the first set 26-24, then falling 21-18 in the second set. Newell Fonda was able to take control late in both sets against the Tigers, winning 21-16, 21-18. Carroll went 2-5 in sets.
IKM-Manning finished the tournament 0-3 but showed real growth on Saturday losing in three to both Carroll and finalist Fort Dodge and pushing Newell Fonda in the first set before the second set started slowly, putting them behind early. The Wolves won their opening set of the morning, knocking off host Carroll 21-15 before falling in set two, then getting edged in set three 15-13. They won the second set, after dropping the opening set 22-20 to Fort Dodge, winning set two 21-19. They battled hard in a 15-11 loss in set three. IKM-Manning went 2-6 in sets, taking 4th in their pool.
Jayci Graeve continues to show her great athleticism this season having switched to outside hitter from setter. Graeve led the Titans with 44 kills to go with 21 digs. Brenna McAlister added 32 kills along with 16 digs and 3 aces. Mia Babcock finished with 15 kills and Mollie Monahan had a great day on defense in the middle with a team high 12 blocks to go with 11 kills. Norah Riedesel had 89 assists along with 13 digs. Alexa Holm had a team high 32 digs and team high 8 aces. Macie Dorman finished with 10 digs.
Mattie Nielsen paced the Wheelers attack at the net with 35 kills, followed by Harlow Miller with 23 kills and Addie Hocker with 10 kills. Hocker had a team high 64 assists and led the team with 4 blocks and 5 aces. She added 17 digs to another strong all-around day. Anna Larsen led the back row with 23 digs, Mattie Nielsen finished with 20 digs and Kadence Brannan-Sporrer and Harlow Miller both had 16 digs. Miller finished with 3 blocks. Michelle Brooks, Mattie Nielsen and Anna Larsen all had 3 aces.
Amanda Wardell led the Tigers with 18 kills, followed by Olivia Rowedder with 12 kills and Mollie Feld with 7 kills. Riley Nagl had 40 assists and 12 digs. Marasyn Wittrock led the Tigers with 28 digs, Averi Burke had 26 assists, McKenna Schwertfeger added 14 digs and Olivia Rowedder had 13 digs. Emma Kuhlman and Rowedder led the Tigers with 3 blocks each and Schwertfeger had a game high 3 aces.
Megan Williams led IKM-Manning with 20 kills, followed by Karlee Arp with 6 and Addisyn Bandow with 5 kills. Arp and Ella Richards each had 16 assists. Grace Carroll paced the back row with 37 digs with Karlee Arp with 21 digs and Anna Stangl with 20 digs. Ella Richards added 17 digs and Eryn Ramsey had 15 digs. Megan Williams, Abby Wanser and Kate Stanl ass had 3 blocks and Laura McCarville finished with 3 aces.
South Central Calhoun moves to 18-9 and will head to SE Valley along with Pocahontas Area on Thursday. Audubon improves to 11-6 and will host Underwood on Tuesday. Carroll sits 4-13 on the season and will host Ballard on Tuesday. IKM-Manning is 2-9 on the season and will head to Treynor on Tuesday.

Glidden Ralston At ACGC Tournament
Glidden Ralston outstanding start to the season continued on Saturday, winning the tournament at ACGC. The Wildcats went 5-0 in matches and 10-2 in sets, dropping a set to runner-up and host ACGC in the finals and a set to Perry in pool play. The Wildcats beat Colfax Mingo, Madrid and Nodaway Valley all 2-0. They are currently 2-0 against Collins-Maxwell and 3-0 against Madrid this season. Their wins over Colfax-Mingo, Madrid and Perry were in pool play. They topped Nodaway Valley in the semifinals. They bounced back after losing the opening set to Perry to win the last two sets 21-9 and 15-12. Glidden Ralston hit .185 against ACGC with 20 kills. The back row played well with 35 digs, led by Tiela Janssen. They served at 95.2% but had just 1 ace.
Addy Boell had 51 assists with Tiela Janssen adding 11 assists to help a balanced group of hitters, led by Ashlynn Tigges with 26 kills. Addy Boell added 21 kills, Summer Toms had 17 kills, Lauren Hulsing 16 kills and Kassidy Wenck added 10 kills. Tiela Janssen paced the back row with 51 digs while adding 5 aces. Summer Toms had 27 digs, Lauren Klocke 25 digs and Asylynn Tigges and Addy Boell both had 14 digs. Summer Toms and Kassidy Wenck both had a team high 8 aces, Lauren Klocke 6 aces and Ashlynn Tigges with 5 aces. Brileigh Bock and Lauren Hulsing finished with 2 blocks each.
The Wildcats are 12-1 on the season and will host Boyer Valley on Tuesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard At OABCIG Tournament
Coon Rapids Bayard picked up a pair of set wins, but went 0-4 in matches Saturday in Ida Grove. They dropped tough three sets losses to OABCIG and Lawton Bronson and were swept by AHSTW and Kingsley Pierson. They played well in the first set against AHSTW but struggled in set two. No scores were available for the other matches.
Malia Clayburg had a team high 15 kills while Ashtyn Klocke had 9 kills. Ella Heithoff led the setters with 24 assists and Mya Downing finished with 13 assists. Malia Clayburg and Aubrey Hofbauer both had 37 digs with Anna Hart with 36 digs and Ella Heithoff had 21 digs. Ar-We-Va At West Harrison Tournament
It was a tough day for Ar-We-Va dropping all five of their matches and going 0-10 in sets. The Rockets played their best matches against West Harrison, Siouxland Christian and Boyer Valley, scoring in double digits in all six sets. They scored 11 in a loss to Tri Center as well.
Makayla Schrad led a balanced attack at the net with 12 kills, Morgan Berg 11 kills and Trista Reis with 10 kills. Amber Ragaller had all 39 assists for the Rockets. Delaney Schurke paced the back row with 39 digs, followed by Emma Leiting with 19 digs and Trista Reis with 18 digs. Morgan Berg had a team high 5 aces while Annalee Wittrock, Delaney Schurke, Amber Ragaller and Trista Reis all had 2 aces.
