Creston At Carroll High

Creston 50

Carroll High 21

Carroll hung close until late in the 1st quarter, containing the Panthers running game, forcing them to throw. Creston connected on a few big plays over the final few minutes of the 1st quarter, scoring 22-points during that stretch to break open a scoreless game. Carroll entered the game wanting to run the ball and take away the Creston running game. They were able to move the ball early but didn’t finish those early possessions. Once they fell behind the Tigers had to go to the air, going away from where they felt they could have success. Creston found some holes in the Tigers defense, attacking them through the air. They put the game away with 14-points in the 2nd quarter to lead 36-0 at half.

Carroll fought back in the 2nd half, scoring on a pair of short touchdown runs by Carter Essick and getting a pass from Essick to Evan Hammer. The defense made some adjustments, holding Creston to a touchdown in both the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Carroll finished the game with 217-yards passing with a touchdown and ran for 102-yards, scoring twice on the ground.

The loss drops Carroll to 1-3 overall as they head into the district schedule next week at  home against 2-2 MOC Floyd Valley. The Dutchmen topped LeMars 18-13 on Friday.
