The eight-ranked South Central Calhoun Titans pick up an ugly win at home over Riverside Friday night. SCC remains undefeated on the season with a 34-28 over Riverside. With the win, SCC also stays undefeated in district play. Despite the score being close, the Titans led for the whole game. SCC took a 20-14 lead over Riverside into the locker room. The Titans struggled with solo defensive tackling after doing an excellent job in week three. SCC added a touchdown and two-point conversion, taking a 28-21 lead in the fourth quarter. As time was winding down and SCC clung on to a 24-28 lead, Riverside was driving, but Zach Trott came up with this second turnover of the game with a game-winning interception, and SCC walked away with a 34-28 win.
Gavin Batta continues his great start to the season as a dual-threat quarterback. The Titans had almost 500 yards of offense against Riverside. Batta was 15/27 for 273 yards with three touchdowns. Batta added another touchdown and 76 yards on the ground as well. The Titans were able to get Keegan Soard in space, as he recorded six catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Brock Nattress was the team’s second-leading receiver, as he recorded 93 yards and a touchdown on only five receptions. Defensively, it was Zach Trott leading them away as he forced two Riverside turnovers and recorded 9.5 tackles.
With the win, SCC moves to 3-0 on the season. They are back at home in week four against ACGC, who also comes in 3-0. Pre-game begins at 6:15, with kickoff at 7:00 on KIKD 106.7.
