Brincks Exteriors Sports Report: Four Area Schools Competed At SCC Tournament on Saturday

Volleyball Results Saturday, September 9th 

Carroll, East Sac and Kuemper At South Central Calhoun Tournament 

Kuemper claimed the championship on Saturday, going 6-0 in matches and 12-1 in sets, dropping their only set to 2nd place and ranked Ridge View. The Raptors tied with South Central Calhoun and East Sac at 4-2 in matches, losing to Kuemper and South Central Calhoun, but they went 10-4 in sets, taking 2nd place. The Titans went 9-6 in sets, edging the Raiders for 3rd place, tough the Raiders won the head-to-head matchup to start the tournament. South Central Calhoun dropped matches to the Raiders and Kuemper. East Sac finished 8-6 in sets, going 2-1 in a win over South Central Calhoun and 2-1 in their win over Kingsley Pierson. They fell to Kuemper and Ridge View, both 2-0. Carroll High finished 7th overall, going 0-6 in matches and 1-12 in sets. The Tigers dropped a heartbreaker to Kingsley Pierson and won the 1st set against South Central Calhoun but fell in the final two sets, losing 16-14 in the 3rd set.

Kaci Peter paced a very balanced Knights attack at the net with 35 kills, followed by Aubrey Heuton 34 kills, Frannie Glynn 29 kills, Lauren Boell with 24 kills and Brianna Wittrock 19 kills. Elsa Tiefenthaler ended the day with 69 assists and Karsyn Overmohle added 68 assists. Kaylie Simons led the back row with 44 digs, Brianna Wittrock had 33 digs and Elsa Tiefenthaler with 24 digs. The Kuemper defense was just as solid at the net with Wittrock having 12 blocks, Frannie Glynn 11 blocks, Lauren Boell 8 blocks and Aubrey Heuton 7 blocks. Elsa Tiefenthaler and Brianna Wittrock both had 9 aces to lead the Knights while Kaylie Simons and Frannie Glynn each had 7 aces and Kaci Peter finished with 6 aces. The Knights are 17-3 heading into road matches at Shenandoah with Atlantic and Shenandoah on Tuesday.

Kate Vondrak paced the Raiders with 29 kills, 50 assists, 13 blocks and 7 aces as the senior put together another stellar day. Kenna Meyers added 24 kills and 32 digs while Addisen Ehler finished with 21 kills and 29 digs. Sidney Bieret had 39 assists to go with 10 digs. Jen Aschinger had a team high 55 digs while Kendall Quirk finished with 5 blocks. Kenna Meyer, Quirk and Bieret all had 2 aces. The Raiders are 15-6, matching last seasons win total as they get ready to host Manson NW Webster and Storm Lake St Mary’s on Thursday.

Carroll was led by Olivia Rowedder with 36 kills to go with 25 digs and a team high 3 aces. Mollie Feld added 17 kills, Katelyn Aden and Emma Kuhlmann both had 9 kills and Amanda Wardell 8 kills. Riley Nagl finished her day with 65 assists and had a team high 39 digs. Averi Burke added 38 digs and Marasyn Wittrock had 32 digs. Amanda Wardell had a team high 5 blocks and Emma Kuhlmann finished with 4 blocks. Marasyn Wittrock added 2 aces. The Tigers are 1-11 and will host Denison Schleswig on Tuesday.

Jayci Graeve has a team high 46 kills for the Titans to go with 29 digs. Brenna McAlister added 41 kills along with 38 digs and a team high 10 aces. Mollie Monahan added 15 kills and led the team with 6 blocks while Mia Babcock had 5 blocks. Alexa Holm paced the back row with 40 digs with Norah Riedesel adding 30 digs and 5 aces to her team high 108 assists. Macie Dorman had 16 digs and Alexa Holm added 7 aces.
