Ar-We-Va improved to 3-0 on the season, but unlike the first-two weeks, the Rockets trailed at half and dominated the 2nd half. Both offenses struggled to get their running games going, forcing both to go to the air. Neither team scored in the 1st quarter as the defenses played well. Siouxland Christian struck first, scoring with 7:34 to go in the half, converting on a 2-point conversion and led 8-0. Ar-We-Va had moved the ball in the 1st half but sputtered and hadn’t finished a drive until the end of the half. They scored with 0:06 left but failed to convert the PAT and trailed 8-6 at half. That late touchdown sparked some energy as they went to the locker room, knowing they would get the ball to start the 2nd half.
Things started quickly for Ar-We-Va in the 2nd half as Wyatt Ragaller returned the kickoff for a touchdown, giving them the lead for good. Ar-We-Va went up 22-8 when Blayne Smith connected with Wyatt Ragaller for a 30-yard touchdown later in the 3rd. Ar-We-Va gained control of the game in the 3rd as the defense continued to play well. The Rockets led 22-8 heading to the 4th. Ar-We-Va added another score in the 4th to seal the deal.
The Rockets defense held the Eagles to 285-yards offensively. They intercepted a pair of passes, holding Siouxland to 10-23 through the air for 207-yards. The rushing defense was even more stout, allowing on 78-yards on 28 carries or 2.8-yards per attempt.
Blayne Smith passed for 217-yards and 3 touchdowns. Wyatt Ragaller caught 8 passes for 145-yards and 2 scores while Wade Ragaller and Harley Molina each had 3 catches for 36-yards each. Devan Ehler and Wade Ragaller led an outstanding defensive effort with 11.5 tackles each, Tyson Von Glan added 10 tackles.
The Rockets head to winless West Harrison on Friday.
