South Central Calhoun earned a huge win in the Twin Lakes Conference, staying aggressive from the first serve of the match to the final point. The Titans serve kept Alta-Aurelia from being in system most of the match, forcing the Warriors to send over free balls and deep pushes. The Titans stayed aggressive at the net, getting good swings from Brenna McAlister, Jayci Graeve, Mia Babcock and Hayden Berquist. South Central Calhoun was in control two sets and was able to win a tight fourth set late while dropping a close second set. They took the lead to start all four sets and only trailed in two sets.
Jayci Graeve got the first kill of the match, helping the Titans jump out 3-0. Alta-Aurelia answered with a 4-0 run to grab the lead but a Mollie Monahan block tied it at 4. Graeve picked up the second of her three kills in the 1st set , evening it at 5. Alexa Holm put the Titans in control shortly after with a service run, extending the Titans lead to 8-5. Brenna McAlister and Mia Babcock added kills, making it 10-6. A McAlister kill, followed by a Mollie Monahan block pushed the lead to 15-8. Alexa Holm put the 1st set to rest with a second service run late, featuring three straight aces. Hayden Berquist ended the set with her first kill of the match. Graeve put the Titans up 1-0 to start set two as the Titans went up 3-0. Alta-Aurelia again rallied and led 5-4. The Titans fought back after falling behind 9-5 with Graeve getting a kill, followed by her serving back-to-back aces. The Titans tied the set at 9 and took the lead back on a ace from Macie Dorman, going up 11-10. Brenna McAlister came on at the net in set two, helping the Titans go up 13-10 but the Warriors stayed close and grabbed the lead for good at 17-16. Jayci Graeve pulled South Central Calhoun within 21-20 with a kill but the Warriors went on to win 25-21.
The 3rd set was tight early with three ties, with the final one at 5-5. The Titans grabbed the lead as both teams were struggling with errors. Brenna McAlister put them up 7-5 with a kill and the Titans extended it to 9-5. The Warriors pulled within 11-8 but the Titans put together a run with a McAlister kill, a pair of aces from Hayden Berquist, another McAlister kill, a Mollie Monahan block and back-to-back kills from Jayci Graeve, making it 19-9. The Titans went up 2-1 with a 25-15 win. Mollie Monahan gave the Titans the lead to start the 4th set and Jayci Graeve made it 2-0. Alta-Aurelia tied it at 2 and then tied it again at 5 but the Titans began to pull away. Norah Riedesel had a great dump kill, putting the Titans up 11-8 and Hayden Berquist served an ace for a 12-8 lead. Mollie Monahan kept the Titans with the momentum with a big block, putting them up 15-10. The Titans appeared to be in control, up 19-14 but Alta-Aurelia rallied, pulling within 19-18. Brenna McAlister kept the Titans up with a kill and South Central Calhoun held the lead by one or two points the rest of the set, winning it 25-22 with a 2-0 run to end it.
Jayci Graeve paced a solid night at the net with 12 kills with Brenna McAlister finishing with 11 kills. Norah Riedesel had 29 assists while Alexa Holm had a team high 5 aces.
The Titans improved to 12-6 overall and 3-0 in the Twin Lakes Conference. Alta-Aurelia suffered their first loss of the season. The Titans host a tournament in Rockwell City on Saturday.

Audubon battled hard against a Bulldog team that was ranked 2nd in the State last week, playing their best match of the season. The Wheelers forced Riverside to earn every point with long rallies. Audubon covered well and were flying all over the floor. The Bulldogs had a strong block, which took a little while for the Wheelers to adjust to. The Wheelers ended the night with .218 kill efficiency, having 43 kills, averaging 10.8 kills per set. The defense added 70 digs for a 17.5 average per set. The Wheelers struggled serving, hitting on 82.9%, but finishing with 11 aces
Mattie Nielsen was outstanding offensively, leading the Wheelers with 22 kills, she added 13 digs and 3 aces. Addie Hocker passed out 31 assists while adding 12 digs and 3 aces. Harlow Miller finished with 10 kills and 3 aces. Kadence Brannan-Sporrer was one of the players flying all over covering, finishing with 14 digs.
The Wheelers fall to 8-4 on the season and will host Missouri Valley on Tuesday.

IKM-Manning took another step forward on Thursday, battling hard on the road, nearly pulling off the win. The Wolves had chances in both the fist-two sets but fell in close games. The Big Red took the momentum from the second set win to pull away in set 3. IKM-Manning lost by 2 in set 1 and dropped the 2nd set, 25-21. They finished with night with 17 kills and a .012 kill efficiency. Their biggest growth may be in the back row, keeping plays alive and hustling. IKM-Manning had 62 digs, averaging 20.7 per set. Their serve was effective at 89.3% as they finished with 1 ace.
Grace Carroll paced the back row with 17 digs while Anna Stangl added 15 digs, Ella Richards 11 digs and Karlee Arp with 7 digs, Richards had a team high 9 assists with Megan Williams leading the Wolves with 6 kills followed by Arp with 5 kills.
The loss drops IKM-Manning to 2-4 they prepare to host Tri Center on Tuesday.

The young Rockets played well in set two, fighting hard after the nerves settled in. Paton Churdan has five freshman out of the nine girls on the roster with two sophomores. They showed improvement in their second match of the season and first match in conference play. Boyer Valley was able to control sets one and three.
Kaliyah Minnhan had a match high 2 kills for the Rockets and Grace Cullum added 4 assists.
The Rockets are 0-2 and will host Colo-Nesco on Monday.

Ar-We-Va played their best match of the season despite falling to West Harrison Thursday night. The Rockets got off to a slow start in the first set and could not battle back as they lost 25-15 to West Harrison. The second set was much better for Ar-We-Va as it was back and forth. The set was tied four times, but the Rockets came short and lost 25-22. Needing a win, Ar-We-Va started the third set slowly as West Harrison built a 7-0 lead. After a timeout, the Rockets came storming back, led 12-8, and never looked back, picking up a 25-20 set win. The fourth set was the best of the night, as Ar-We-Va needed a win to stay alive. Each team kept trading points in the fourth set as it was tied ten times. It would take extra time to find a winner as West Harrison would come out winning 27-25 and the match 3-1.
Trista Reis led the Rockets in kills with seven. Morgan Berg and Makayla Schrad were just a little behind, as they recorded six each. Amber Ragaller led the team in aces, and she picked up five. The loss drops the Rockets to 0-5 on the season. Ar-We-Va is back in action on Tuesday against Coon-Rapids-Bayard.

The East Sac County Raiders continue their hot start to the season with a 3-0 sweep of West Bend-Mallard. The first set was back and forth and was the closest of the three. The Raiders picked up a 25-23 set one win and then went on cruise control the rest of the night. ESC picked up a 13 point in set number two, winning 25-12. The Raiders completed the sweep, winning the third set 25-14.
The Raiders had balanced play from all of their players. Kenna Meyer led ESC with ten kills. Addisen Ehler recorded nine kills, which was second on the team. Sidney Bieret and Kate Vondrak were active all over the court, setting up their teammates as they recorded 13 assists. ESC picked up seven aces as a team. The win improves The Raiders record to 11-4. ESC is back in action on Saturday in the SCC Master Blaster Invitational.

The Coon Rapids-Bayard Crusaders dropped a home game Thursday night to Exira-EHK in three straight sets. Despite the loss, all three sets were close. Exira won the first set by the widest margin of the night, 25-19. CRB seemed to gain momentum in the second set but could not overcome Exira-EHK and lost set two 25-21. Set three was the closest set of the night, but Exira-EHK won and completed the sweep over the Crusaders, picking up a 25-22 win.
Malia Clayburg was active at the nets all game, picking up 14 kills to lead the Crusaders. Anna Hart recorded five kills. Ella Heithoff played one of her best matches of the night, setting up her teammates as she recorded 20 assists. CRB recorded seven blocks as a team and also picked up seven aces. The loss drops CRB’s record to 5-7. The Crusaders are back in action on Tuesday at Ar-We-Va.
