Audubon looked for a better start offensively in Week 2, getting it with touchdowns on three of their first four possessions. That quick start helped them earn a big road win against Colo-Nesco, who entered the game 2-0, averaging 63-points per game. The defense performed well, forcing a punt on each of the Royals first-two possessions and holding them scoreless on five of their first-six possessions. The special teams came up with the play of the game, sealing the win late on a blocked punt by Ely Jorgensen and recovered by Edward Miller. Aaron Olsen scored from 2-yards out on the next play and the Wheelers went up by two scores early in the 4th quarter.

The Wheelers struck first, scoring midway through the 1st quarter with Aaron Olsen scoring on an 8-yard run. The touchdown was set up by a couple pass plays to Austin Christensen and Evan Alt. The Wheelers lead was 8-0 until late in the 1st quarter when Colo-Nesco scored, tying the game at 8 with 1:07 left in the quarter. Evan Alta put the momentum back with Audubon, taking the ensuing kickoff 79-yards for a touchdown. The Wheelers defense made another stop and the offense ate up most of the 2nd quarter, going on a 17-play drive, ending with a 1-yard run by Aaron Olsen. The Wheelers led 22-6 at the half and were in control of the game. Colo-Nesco scored to end the 3rd quarter, pulling within a possession, down 22-16 to start the 4th quarter. Ely Jorgensen’s block punt early in the 4th quarter, picked up by Edward Miller and advanced to the 2-yard line, setting up the Olsen touchdown, putting the Wheelers up 28-16 with 9:17 to play. Colo-Nesco scored quickly on a 48-yard run by Breckin Clatt, pulling within 28-24. The Wheelers offense held the ball, chewing up the clock before turning it over on downs deep in Royals territory. The Royals moved the ball to around midfield but Audubon held on 4th down, sealing the win with a first down run.
