Kuemper won their opener on Monday, pulling out a tight win in the first set (25-21), before settling in against the host Toreadors and rolling in set 2 (25-12). They finished with 22 kills, getting contributions from six different players, They had a solid match at the service line, going 44 of 50 for 88%, finishing with 2 aces. They defense was solid on both fronts, getting 6 blocks along with 30 digs, highlighted by 13 from Kaylie Simons at libero. The win improved them to 7-3 on the season.

Kaci Peter had a match high 11 kills with the rest of the team balanced, led by 3 kills from Frannie Glynn. Elsa Tiefenthaler had a team high 15 assists. Simons led the back row with her 13 digs with Tiefenthaler having the second most with 5 digs. Brianna Wittrock had a team high 3 blocks.

The Knights had a battled on their hands in their second match, coming out on top in a tough second set to end the match. Kuemper controlled set one, going on to a 25-18 win, then had to battle in set 2, earning a tight 25-22 win. They had six players earn a kill, finishing as a team with 30. The back row, kept them in the lead, digging 44 balls from Greene County, who kept swinging. The win moves the Knights to 8-3.

Lauren Boell paced the Knights at the net with 8 kills, followed by Brianna Wittrock with 6 kills, Frannie Glynn, Kaci Peter and Aubrey Heuton all had 5 kills. Elsa Tiefenthaler had maybe her best match of the young season, leading the team with 18 assists, adding 8 digs. Karsyn Overmohle added 11 assists and 8 digs. Kaylie Simons had a strong match with 12 digs. Brianna Wittrock had a team high 3 blocks.

The Knights head to Creston on Tuesday.

Glidden Ralston dominated the match with their serve and were never really challenged. Ashlynn Tigges earned the first of her 10 kills for the matches first point and the Wildcats took an early 3-1 lead. Summer Toms stretched it to 5-2 and Brileigh Bock made it 6-2. Collins Maxwell struggled to get the ball to their setter and when they did they sent over a lot of free balls, allowing the Wildcats to stay in system. Lauren Hulsing stretched the lead to 11-3 with a kill and Kassidy Wenck had a pair of aces, putting the Wildcats up 14-3. Wenck served them on a 7-0 run, building a 16-3 lead. Brileigh Bock added another kill and Summer Toms had an ace making 19-5. The Wildcats ended the set with a Ashlynn Tigges kill.

A 4-0 lead on an ace from Lauren Hulsing and kill by Ashlynn Tigges put the Wildcats in control of set 2. Glidden Ralston finished the set with 7 aces, 5 of them from Kaitlyn Malcom, who served a 9-0 run, putting them up 21-5. Collins Maxwell made a late run but the Wildcats cruised to a 25-10 win. Tiela Janssen started the 3rd set at the service line and put the Wildcats ahead 10-0. She had 4 aces during the stretch, which saw Ashlynn Tigges pick up a pair of kills and Kassidy Wenck adding a kill as well. The Wildcats lost the momentum and Collins-Maxwell kept fighting, pulling within 19-13. A Kassidy Wenck kill flipped momentum back to Glidden Ralston and they ended the match, winning the 3rd set 25-15.

Addy Boell had a solid all-around night with 24 assists, 4 kills and 6 digs. Ashlynn Tigges led the attack with 10 kills, Lauren Hulsing added 5 kills and Summer Toms finished with 4 kills to go with 9 digs. Tiela Janssen led the back row with 10 digs to go with 4 aces. Kaitlyn Malcom had 9 digs and a team high 5 aces.

The Wildcats are 1-0 and are off until next Tuesday when they host Audubon and Madrid.
