Tate Mayer gets the Hawks in order bottom 2nd with a couple popups to 1st base and a strikeout. Jayce Schwiesow singles with 2-outs top 3rd. Carsen Sparrow singles to score the first run of the game, scoring Seth Shotts from 2nd base. Shotts was a courtesy runner for Schwiesow. Saint Ansgar leads 1-0. Jaxson Bunkers reached 1st on an error to start the bottom 3rd for St Mary’s. Cael Ortman with a 1-out single. Both runners advanced on a error on a pickoff attempt at 2nd base. Tate Mayer with back-to-back strike outs ends the threat.
Saint Ansgar got their first-two batters on in the top 4th but Mikhail Meyer, who singled was forced out at 2nd base. Ryan Hackbart reached on the fielder’s choice. Saint Ansgar strands 1 runner top 4th. They lead St Mary’s, Remsen 1-0. Kaden Groepper gets a 2-out single for St Mary’s in the bottom 4th but the Hawks strand a runner and trail 1-0 through 4 innings. Colin Homan walks the leadoff batter but gets out of trouble in the top 5th. Jaxson Bunkers gets hit-by-pitch and Cael Ortman singles for the third time today, giving the Hawks runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. Maxwell Beland turns a 6U-6-3 double play and Saint Ansgar leads 1-0 after 5 innings. Mikhail Meyer singles and takes 2nd base on a throwing error for Saint Ansgar top 6th. Meyer moves to 3rd base on the Hawks second error of the game and a chopper to the mound. Cael Ortman replaces Colin Homan on the mound with 2 outs and a runner at 2nd. Ortman gets St Mary’s out of trouble as they trail 1-0 going bottom 6th. Jayce Schwiesow replaces Tate Mayer in the top 6th with a 3-2 count on Hunter Pick. Pick would walk, Landon Waldschmitt singles to right. Isaiah Gerrietts sac bunts runners to 2nd and 3rd. Kaden Groepper drives in Brady Wurth, tying the game at 1. Wurth ran for Pick. Brendan Fisch bunt single to score Waldschmitt from 3rd and St Mary’s, Remsen takes their first lead at 2-1. Jaxon Bunkers flies out to left field, scoring Ryan Willman and St Mary’s goes up 3-1. Willman was running for Groepper. Joe Clevenger with an infield single to start top 7th. Clevenger gets hit between 2nd and 3rd by a ground ball from Jayce Schwiesow to end the game.
Cael Ortman had 3 hits and earned the win, pithing the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing 1 hit and no runs. Landon Walderschmitt had a hit and a run scored and Kaden Groepper had a hit and an RBI for St Mary’s.
Jayce Schwiesow had 2 hits for Saint Ansgar and Mikhail Meyer had a pair of hits. Seth Shotts scored their lone run. Schwiesow took the loss, going 2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 earned runs.
St Mary’s improves to 30-2 and Saint Ansgar ends their season at 26-8.
