Lisbon Vs Notre Dame, Burlington- Class 1A Quarterfinals
Lisbon pulls the first minor upset if you can call it that as the fifth seed knocks off fourth seed Notre Dame. The Lions used a big 3rd inning and a strong pitching performance from Hunter Clark to win 5-0.
Lisbon scores the first run of the game in the top 1st. Cohen Kamus doubled and scored later in the innings on a third strike that got to the backstop on what would have been the final out. Notre Dame looked in good shape to answer in the bottom 1st. Spencer Brent and Caden Schwenker both single but Landon Stolte turns a 5U-5-3 double play to end the bottom 1st. Both teams strand a runner on base in the 2nd inning. Lisbon via walk and Notre Dame on an error on the throw on a dropped third strike. Dylan Kipp makes a nice stretching catching falling down at 1st base for Notre Dame on a rushed throw. It saves a run as Landon Stole doubles to deep left-center. Stolte steals 3rd on a walk to Hunter Clark. Luke Czarnecki triples to score 2. Kaden Caspers knocks in Czarnecki with a single and Lisbon takes a 4-0 lead going bottom 3rd. Hunter Clark cruises through the bottom 3rd, stranding 1-runner.
Lisbon and Notre Dame go down in order in the 4th. Landon Stolte singles and scores on a single by Luke Czarneski. Lisbon extends the lead to 5-0 top 5th. Notre Dame strands a runner bottom 5th. Hunter Clark gets Notre Dame in order bottom 6th. Lisbon goes down in order top 7th. Notre Dame went in order bottom 7th and Lisbon wins 5-0.
Landon Stolte went had a double and scored a pair of runs while Luke Czarnecki added a triple and drove in 3-runs. Cohen Kamus doubled and scored for Lisbon. Hunter Clark earned the win, going all 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and no runs.
Caden Schwenker, Spencer Brent and Isaiah Crow all had singles for Notre Dame.
Lisbon takes on Kingsley Pierson in the semifinals on Wednesday. Notre Dame ends the season 26-7.
