The Merchants left their third straight game slip away late, falling to Clarinda 7-6. Carroll got on the board early, scoring a pair of runs in the 1st inning, adding a run in the 2nd inning to lead 3-0. Carroll out hit the A’s 11 to 9, building a 6-1 lead through 6 innings. Clarinda began their rally in the 7th, scoring 4-runs. A 2-run top of the 9th gave them their first lead of the game.
Michael Alt had a great day at the plate, going 4-4 and scoring 3 times. Chris Hege and Bryce Yosko each added a pair of hits with Hege scoring a run and Yosko doubling. The Merchants fall to 14-17 on the season, 2 games behind 3rd place Chillicothe. They are at Chillicothe on Tuesday and are hoping to play their postponed game from Friday against Clarinda on Monday.
