Kuemper rolled into the SubState final on Tuesday night with a dominant win over Manson NW Webster. The Knights scored in every inning, putting the game away in the 4th with 12 runs. Kuemper scored the first-nine batters in the 4th inning, ending a game that was 7-4 going into the 4th. The Knights only had 3-hits in the inning, but used 5 walks and 4 hit-by-pitch to end the game. Koby Lampman and Trevor Rial scored on a walk to Josh Langel when the ball got to the backstop ending the game.
Kuemper started quickly as Carter Putney hit a solo home run in the bottom 1st, helping the Knights score 3-runs on 3-hits. Max Irlmeier threw out the first baserunner of the game in the top of the 1st, helping the Knights gain momentum heading into the bottom half. Putney added a 2-run home run in the 2nd, scoring Josh Langel who was hit-by-pitch for the first of three times in the game. Kuemper led 5-0 going into the 3rd. The top 3rd didn’t go well for Kuemper with the Cougars getting 3-hits and soring 4-runs, helped by 2-walks. Kuemper bounced back, answering with a pair of runs in the bottom 3rd. Cooper Pottebaum had an RBI single and Logan Sibenaller was hit-by-pitch, scoring a run. Benicio Lujano started the 4th inning with a walk, followed by Koby Lampman getting hit-by-pitch and Trevor Rial reaching on a fielder’s choice, scoring a run. Cooper Pottebaum drove in a pair of runs with a single and Kuemper was off and running. Evan Loew added an RBI single and Logan Sibenaller drove in 2-runs. Benicio Lujano came up for the second time in the inning, flying out to score a run.
Carter Putney had a pair of home runs, a solo in the 1st inning and a 2-run shot in the 2nd inning. Putney ended the game with 3 RBI and scored 3 times. Cooper Pottebaum had a pair of hits, driving in 4-runs and scoring twice. Logan Sibenaller had 3 RBI, Tristan Janson scored 4 times and Josh Langel was hit-by-pitch 3 times. Ethan Loew earned the win, going 4 innings, allowing 4 hits and 4 earned runs with 5 strikeouts and 4 walks.
The Knights advance into the SubState game at Boone on Tuesday against Woodward Granger, who beat Ogden 8-4. The game will be on 93.7 KKRL. The Knights enter the game 25-10 and Woodard Granger is 19-5.
