IKM-Manning dropped another heart breaker, giving up a run in the bottom 6th in a 1-run loss on the road. The Wolves fall to 3-5 on the season in games decided by 2-runs or less. Neither team had a big inning but both teams were able to score often. The Wolves scored in three of their seven innings, with their best inning a 2-run 3rd, giving them a brief 3-2 lead. Exira-EHK never scored more than a run in an inning but scored in five of the six innings they batted in. The Spartans tied the game at 3 in the 4th, then grabbed a 4-3 lead in the 5th. The Wolves came back with a run in the top 6th, tying the game at 4, setting up the Spartans game winner in the bottom half. 

Bryc Summerfield had a team high 2 hits and scored a run. Ben Ramsey had a base hit and scored twice and Lane Sams had a base hit and stole 3 bases. Zander Richards pitched 3 innings with 2 earned runs. Reed Hinners, Zander Richards and Bryc Summerfield combined to allow 5 hits and 5 runs with 2 strikeouts in 6 innings. 

The Wolves fall to 8-15 and will head to MVAOCOU on Wednesday to wrap up their regular season.

Logan Sibenaller nearly hit for the cycle and Cooper Pottebaum was strong at the plate and on the mound as Kuemper rolled to a win. Denison Schleswig scored both their runs in the 1st inning, doing it with 1 hit and the help from 2 hit-by-pitches and a walk. They wouldn’t get another base hit until the 5th inning. Kuemper quickly answered with 5-runs in the bottom 5th. Logan Sibenaller started the bottom 1st with a double, Carter Putney, Benicio Lujano and Koby Lampman walked. Trevor Rial singled to score a run and Cooper Pottebaum tripled, clearing the bases. A triple by Logan Sibenaller helped the Knights score a pair of runs in the 4th. Benicio Lujano had a sac fly to score a run and Koby Lampman singled to score another run. Kuemper put the game away in the bottom 5th. Logan Sibenaller hit a 2-run home run to end the game, scoring Evan Loew who had singled. 

Logan Sibenaller had 3 hits with a double, triple and a home run. He had 2 RBI and scored twice. Cooper Pottebaum had a triple and 4 RBI, plus earned the win, going 5 innings with 2 hits and 2 earned runs. Koby Lampman added a hit and RBI, Carter Putney scored a pair of runs as did Trevor Rial. 

The win moves Kuemper to 20-10 on the season. They head to Glenwood for a varsity doubleheader on Wednesday.

South Central Calhoun At Roland Story

Things got away from South Central Calhoun in the 3rd inning as Roland Story built a 11-1 lead on their way to a 4 inning win. South Central Calhoun scored in the 1st inning as Charlie Nattress walked and scored. Brendan Stone singled in the inning and Caleb Juhl walked and was stranded a 2nd with Stone at 3rd when the inning ended. Roland Story scored twice in the bottom 1st and never trailed the rest of the game. The Titans had two runners on with a runner at 3rd in the 2nd inning and had a runner on 2nd and 3rd in the 4th inning but couldn’t get the timely hit. The Titans finished with 3 hits on the night. 

Andrew Anderson, Brendan Stone and Caleb Juhl had the hits for the Titans and Charlie Nattress scored their run. Carson Shaver went 2 innings, allowing 1 hit and 1 earned run. The Titans used three pitchers in the game. 

The loss drops South Central Calhoun to 3-14 on the season. They play at Manson NW Webster in the opening round of the playoffs on Saturday on KIKD 106.7.

Carroll High struggled defensively, committing 6 errors, leading to 5 unearned runs against a Harlan team that takes advantage of mistakes. The Cyclones scored 4-runs in the 1st inning but didn’t score again until the 5th inning. Carroll put the ball in play and had baserunners but stranded 9 guys on base. Carter Essick singled in the 3rd to get the Tigers on the board. Cooper Ludwig added an RBI single in the 6th inning. 

Tate Schleisman and Chase Ragaller both had 2 hits and both stole a base with Schleisman stealing 2. Carter Essick and Cooper Ludwig both had an RBI single and Ryan North and Mason Vought both scored a run. Linkin Weitl took the loss, going 4 ⅓ innings, allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs. 

The loss drops Carroll to 5-19 overall. The Tigers host Audubon on 93.7 KKRL on Wednesday.

The Wheelers gave up one big inning, falling at home to CAM. The Cougars poured in 8-runs in the 6th to put the game away. The Wheelers had hung close through 5 innings, trailing 6-2. Audubon finished with 5 errors, allowing 4 unearned runs. They were out hit 12 to 5. 

Carson Wessel had a team high 2 hits while Evan Alt, Jay Remsburg and Ely Jorgensen all had a hit. Alt drove in a run and scored a run. Adam Obrecht took the loss, giving up 7 hits and 2 earned runs with 5 strikeouts in 5 innings. 

The Wheelers fell to 5-17 and will play at Carroll on 93.7 KKRL on Wednesday.

Coon Rapids Bayard jumped out 8-0 after 3 innings on their way to a 6 innings win. Ar-We-Va kept fighting, able to score a pair of runs in the 4th and one more in the 5th inning. The Crusaders added 2-runs in the 4th, one in the 5th and ended the game with a pair of runs in the 6th. 

Cal Heydon, Caden Oswald and Max Shirbroun combined to allow 7 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks, Shibroun earned the win. Cal Heydon finished with 4 hits, including 3 doubles and 3 RBI. Lance Clayburg added a pair of hits with a triple and 3 RBI. Parker Hays had 3 hits and Kolby Culbertson drove in 3 runs with a pair of hits and a double. 

Wade Ragaller had 3 hits for the Rockets and scored a run. Timothy Dose, Weston Toft and Devon Ehlers all had a hit and an RBI with Dose scoring a run. 

The Crusaders improved to 23-4 and hosted Alta-Aurelia on Tuesday night after the Ar-We-Va game. The Rockets slipped to 0-14 and will head to Woodbury Central to open the playoffs on Saturday.

Coon Rapids Bayard finished the sweep of their unique doubleheader, using a big bottom 6th inning to open up a close game. The Crusaders and Warriors both had 10 hits with CRB leaving 6 on base and Alta-Aurelia leaving 8 on base. The Crusaders were a little crispier on defense with 2 errors compared to 3 for Alta-Aurelia. Coon Rapids Bayard scored 7-runs in the 6th to open up a 5-3 lead. Alta-Aurelia added a pair of runs in the top 7th. 

Cal Heydon doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs. Jacob Estrada and Parker Hays both had a pair of hits with an RBI and Wyatt Oswald drove in a pair of runs with a pair of hits. 

The Crusaders moved to 24-4 overall. They are off until Saturday when they host Panorama in the opening round of the 1A postseason. The game will be on 1380 AM/95.1 FM KCIM.
