Carroll picks up their best win of the season against a strong Boone team on the road. They controlled the game from the start, never trailing, getting a strong pitching, 12 hits and several key defensive plays. The Tigers built a 6-0 lead, using Boone errors and timely hitting. Then made several big stops as the Toreadors attempted to rally.
Boone made three errors in the 1st inning and Carroll took advantage. The first five batters got on base with two scoring. Ryan North drove in a run on an error with Chase Ragaller, who had singled, also scoring on the error. Carroll took control of the game in the 3rd, batting 10 guys in the inning. Stone Sibenaller started the inning with a walk, Tate Schleisman singled and Chase Ragaller was hit-by-pitch. Ryan North singled, scoring a run, followed by a fielder’s choice from Jake Jorgensen and a single by Cooper Ludwig, both scoring a run. Mason Vought closed out the scoring with a bases loaded walk. Noah Davies hit a solo home run for Boone to start to the bottom 3rd. They would score another unearned run as the Tigers had a pair of errors. Carroll answered with a run on a sac fly by Jake Jorgensen in the 4th. Boone scored an unearned run in the 5th but Carroll scored an insurance run in the 7th with Jake Jorgensen singling and scoring on a single by Stone Sibenaller. Sibenaller replaced Trey Tassell with 2-outs in the 5th and helped the Tigers close the door.
Carroll made several key defensive plays. Cooper Ludwig made a great diving catch in foul territory up the 1st base line in the 4th, doubling off the runner at 1st base. Stone Sibenaller made a nice catch at 2nd base on a line drive up the middle in the 5th and Carroll turned a nifty 6-4-3 double play in the 7th.
Tate Schleisman, Chase Ragaller and Dreylen Schweitzer all had 3 hits with Schleisman scoring twice, Ragaller scoring 3 times. Ryan North and Jake Jorgensen both had 2 RBI and Mason Vought had a double. Trey Tassell earned the win, going 4 2/3 innings with 2 hits and 1 earned run. Stone Sibenaller threw the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing no hits or runs with 2 K’s.
The Tigers improved to 5-18 overall and 2-12 in the Raccoon River Conference. They head to Harlan on Tuesday.

Kuemper outhit Clarinda in game one of a varsity doubleheader but struggled to throw strikes resulting in a close loss. Clarinda threw their ace in game one, but Kuemper was up for the challenge, recording double-digit hits as a team. Both pitchers started the game well, as the score was tied 0-0, going to the top of the third inning. In the third, Clarinda took the lead plating two runs on two hits and a couple of walks. Kuemper cut into the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the third off of an RBI single from Trevor Rial. Clarinda extended their lead in the top of the fourth, scoring three times without recording a hit to take a 5-1 lead. Kuemper responded again by cutting the lead to 5-2 after scoring a single run on an RBI triple from Carter Putney to trail 5-2 going to the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Kuemper cut the Clarinda lead to 5-4 by scoring two runs with two outs in the inning. The Knights recorded the two runs off of three hits. Clarinda would add another run in the sixth and seventh to take a 7-4 lead over Kuemper. The Knights were able to get two runners on in the bottom of the seventh but could not score and lost game one of a variety doubleheader 7-4.
Josh Langel, Cooper Pottebaum, and Ethan Loew recorded multiple hits in the game. Kuemper recorded ten hits but left 11 runners off base. Loew took the loss on the hill, going five innings, giving up three earned runs, and striking out four Clarinda hitters. Three Kuemper errors lead to two unearned runs by Clarinda. Knight pitching also combined to walk eight Clarinda hitters in the loss.

Kuemper bounced back in game number two with a ten-run rule win in five innings. The Knights hit the ball well again, recording nine hits in the game. Clarinda scored in the top of the first inning leading 1-0, going to the bottom of the first inning. Kuemper responded with two runs in the home half of the first and never looked back as they outscored Clarinda 11-0 the rest of the game to win in five innings by a final score of 11-1.
Mason Knerl went all five innings on the mound picking up the win. Kuemepr’s pitching combined to give up three hits in the game while striking out five Clarinda hitters. After going 0-4 in game one, Logan Sibenaller picked up three hits at the plate. Cooper Pottebaum continued his great night, picking up two more hits in the second game. Knight hitters worked seven walks and were also hit by three pitches. Kuemper was busy on the base paths recording 14 stolen bases. The win improves Kuemper’s record to 19-10, and 11-6 in Hawkey Ten play. The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday at home against Denison-Schleswig.

The Titans were held to two hits in a five-inning blowout at home Monday night. Emmetsburg scored the game’s first runs, plating three in the top of the first inning. SCC cut into the lead in the home half scoring a single run to trail 3-1. Emmetsburg added another run in the second and then blew the game open in the third by plating six runs to lead 10-1. Emmetsburg scored again in the top of the fourth inning, taking a 13-1 lead. In the home half of the fifth, SCC scored again but lost to Emmetsburg 13-2.
SCC recorded only two hits in the game off the bat of Andrew Anderson. The Titans committed four errors in the game, which led to nine unearned runs. SCC pitching combined to go four innings giving up seven hits, walking five batters, and hitting another four. The loss drops the Titans record to 3-13 and 3-7 in conference play. SCC is back in action on Tuesday against Roland-Story.

Ar-We-Va dropped another game on the road in a five-inning blowout loss to West Harrison. The Rockets scored the first run of the game to take a 1-0 lead going to the bottom of the second. West Harrison tied the game in the home half of the second inning, making the score 1-1. The bottom of the third is when the game blew open. West Harrison plated eight runs in the third. West Harrison added two more runs in the fourth inning as they went on to win the game 11-1.
The Rockets recorded three hits in the game off the bats of Wyatt Ragaller, Wade Ragaller, and Johnathan Riesselman. Ar-We-Va committed five errors in the game, resulting in three unearned runs by West Harrison. The Rockets used two pitchers in the game. CRB was out hit on the road Monday night but picked up a Rolling Valley Conference win. The Crusaders scored the game’s first runs in the top of the second inning, plating two runs. CRB extended their lead to 4-0 in the third after adding another two runs. CAM cut in the Crusader lead by plating a single run in the home half of the fourth inning, cutting the CRB lead to 4-1. Another run was scored in the top of the fifth inning by CRB as they went on to win the game 5-1.
Lance Clayburg went the distance on the mound striking out 14 CAM hitters and only giving up five hits. The Crusaders recorded three hits in the game coming off the bats of Kolby Culbertson and Parker Hays. CRB worked eight walks in the game. Culbertson recorded the only extra-base hit in the win. CRB’s record improves to 22-4 on the season and 11-2 in conference play. The Crusaders are back in action on Tuesday at home against Ar-We-Va.

The Wheelers played well on the road but dropped a close game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bedford struck first, making the score 1-0, going to the second inning. Bedford would add another run in the bottom of the third inning, making the score 2-0. The Wheelers cut into the Bedford lead in the top of the fourth inning, making the score 2-1. Audubon would tie the game at 2-2, going to the bottom of the seventh inning. In the home half of the seventh, Bedford’s lead-off hitter walked. A pitch hit the next batter, and then an intentional walk loaded the bases. A wild pitch would score the Bedford winning run to make the score 3-2.
The Wheelers outhit Bedford eight to three. Jay Remsburg recorded three hits in the game. Six different Audubon hitters recorded a hit in the game. Audubon played one of their best games of the year. The Wheelers used two pitchers in the game. They combined to go six-plus innings on the hill, giving up three hits, one earned run, and striking out six Bedford hitters. The loss drops Audubon’s record to 5-16. On Tuesday, the Wheelers return to action with another game out of conference at home against CAM.

Glidden-Ralston won a back-and-forth game where they trailed through four innings in a matchup between two area teams. ESC scored the game’s first runs in the top of the first inning, plating five runs to lead 5-0. ESC took a 5-0 lead going to the home half of the second inning. In the second Glidden-Ralston cut into the ESC lead plating four runs to trail by one 5-4. The Raiders extended their lead to 6-4 in the top of the fourth inning. Going to the bottom of the fourth, the Wildcats would take their first lead of the game plating seven runs to lead 11-6. The Wildcats held a five-run lead going to the top of the seventh inning. Needing some runs, ESC scored twice but would lose the game 11-8 to Glidden-Ralston.
Both teams recorded double-digit hits. Bradyn Burns, Karter Ludwig, Tucker Grossely, and Luke Wernimont recorded multiple hits in the game for ESC. In total, the Raiders recorded 11 hits. The Wildcats recorded ten hits in the game. Eight different hitters recorded a hit for the Wildcats. Ethan Olberding and Daniel Thooft recorded multiple hits in the game.
